an excerpt; "...Hamilton, the National League Rookie of the Month for April, batted .429 this week with nine hits, including two home runs, a triple, a double, two walks and a stolen base..."
He is on the 15 day disabled list for a stomach disorder gastroenteritis. He is due to come off the DL June 3 but will most likely be brought back in slowly and may go to Triple-A Louisville for a rehab assignment.
We may be in the basement but the Reds are still #1 to me
Seriousley that is what is wrong with him. I am a follower of the Reds good or bad I mean serious follower. I bleed Cincinnati Reds. I follow transactions during the winter. He started his rehab last night in Triple-A he hit a homerun. Oh and he was under constant supervision while he recovered from his illness doctors would not subscribe him anything that could be addictave knowing his past so yes I think that was the real reason he was not playing. Hell they had to call an ambulance for him while they were on the road trip in Cleveland his stomach pain had gotten that bad.
Hamilton to be activated from DL Outfielder expected back on Tuesday against Cards By Mark Sheldon / MLB.com
"... As expected, Hamilton will be activated from the 15-day disabled list before the game. The club will also recall reliever Todd Coffey from Triple-A Louisville.
Hamilton had been away from the Reds since May 22 because of gastroenteritis. During a six-game rehabilitation assignment, the 26-year-old was 8-for-24 (.333) with four home runs and six RBIs.
Before going down with his stomach ailment, Hamilton was batting .261 with eight homers and 18 RBIs in 37 games for Cincinnati. Coming back from a near four-year layoff from the game because of drug suspension, he was named the National League's Rookie of the Month in April..."
I am glad he is back. I have been counting down the days until he was able to come off the DL list.
Hamilton hit homerun number 9 last night (June 9) and he made a game saving double play in the top of the 12th when he caught a ball then threw out a tagging runner from third base at the plate today (June 10). The reds went on to win 1-0 in the bottom of the 12th.
about how Hamilton's per diem and salary are taken out of his hands as a preventative measure--apparently he is on board with that practice since he wants to stay clean
I hope for his sake and also because Rangers are my home team that he does have a great season...he really has so much potential and could be such a refreshing object lesson for young kids and up-coming players...
"...That's the beauty of argument, Joey. If you argue correctly, you're never wrong..."
Josh is just plain ridiculous this season. He's leading the Majors with 49 RBIs, and it's only the middle of May! That's more than he had in Cincinnati all year. A good player will rack up 100 RBIs in an entire season.
Will do I am a huge fan of his. I have been to 20 Reds games this year and plan to go to a lot more before the season is over. They are in last place and like 12 1/2 out but a true Reds fan as I am will always support them no matter what. When I am not at Great American Ball Park I am watching the games on Fox Sports Ohio. I can't wait till they get back in town so I can run off to my great escape from stress and BS from work and watch my team play ball.
Josh was the cover story of a recent issue on Sports Illustrated. It ran through his whole history of drug abuse, sobering up, getting back into the majors and his experiences since then. Lots about his family and some of the friends helping him out. Nothing about Richard or anybody else from Trademark mentioned in the story though.
caught a promo last night watching another house flipping program about the Shoeless Joe Jackson House that Richard redid more than a year ago Now they are having Josh Hamilton come back to that house in his old town guess Richard is getting some payback now... and did you notice who Josh had pitching for him--that guy was his brother's old little league coach--maybe someone who was supportive when he was trying to stay clean... thought that was nice touch...
