Continuing the tradition of great Australian RUBBISH!

Every time my cable TV provider (trying to follow the governments strict code on incorporating locally produced Australian shows into the cable channel diet) shows the previews for this show I cringe.

There is such a huge gulf in what is what is witty, interesting and sustainable and what is not when it comes to a sitcom style series. The writers and producers of "this" clearly have no clue or talent to produce a show that could earn its place without government imposed laws for Australian content to be shown. To say tonight is the best of comedy night on TV1 and list Frasier, King of Queens, Seinfeld and try and squeeze this utter garbage into the mix as though it is world class like the others is pathetic.

Australia should scrap local content laws and government funding of local TV and movies as the talent pool in Australia is very limited. It would be better to have one or two good productions that have genuine world marketability and appeal and stop kidding ourselves that anyone but the brain dead Brits likes what we make.

OK I'm from the U.S.

Frasier, King of Queens, and Seinfeld all suck completely.

Most Aussie stuff I watch is top notch there matie.
Why do you want to run down your local programming?
Many Aussie shows are far more realistic and better produced than anything in the U.S.
I have all but stopped watching U.S. made TV. I just find it boring.
Aussie shows are fresh and different.

Stupid, stupid man is subtle and intelligent humor.
Over here we get "the office". Similar to SSM but very pretentious and most of the characters are rather unlikable.

You call for the Australian gov. to stop funding local programms?
How do you expect local shows to get any better without a little help?
I really don't get where people like the 2 posters here are coming from.
Why put down everything about Aussie TV?
I guess you should just move over here to the States then.
Hell I'll trade with you. Seeing as I already love Aussie TV and hate most of the stuff showing here in America.

It is what is known as the "Tall Poppy Syndrome".

Don't get too big or somebody will cut you down. It is a form of supposed humour used in Australia by who have achieved nothing, like most TV critics.
