I went to see this at the theater today knowing virtually nothing about it and was pleasantly surprised. The plotting was ingenious. It got a little too "twisty" by the end, but is still all around entertaining and fun. It even appealed to my rather twisted sense of humor. 8/10

Hildy- Don't be hasty. Remember my dimple. Love, Walter.

Really though? I went and saw this film yesterday, thought it was painfully uneven... even laughable at times. The subplot with the sister/cop was especially stuffy and contrived, and every scene in some way employed two or three cliches. I wonder: does anyone here actually like this film, or do they just cherish memories of a once-great director?

reply

I really like this film. And it prooves that the director's still great. Why denying a film is good for the only reasons that the director is active since ages and getting old ? The way he took me (I'll speak of myself) on wrong paths was just amazing. There's no average director who handles the cinematographic language like he did for this film. I'm not a huge fan of Lelouch, but I know what I'm talking about.

I'm glad someone knows what they're talking about.

Interesting how the rapist lured his victims with magic tricks, and Pierre also does this as a hobby. Almost like his story was telling itself. So he teases Huguette with this. I thought it was hilarious when he borrows the paper from the fellow and tears it up, then gives it back to him complete, to everyone's amazement.

I agree, one of the best movies I've seen in awhile. Love the suspense and the acting. A well thought out plot, complex but made simple. Brilliant cinematography. Wonderful film.
