NB. I have only watched the film and not the book.
In the film when the guys are in the haunted house they see a chair with red blood (this is before the guys see Nathan & Roy being intimate with each other).
What did other people make of this? Is this blood Nathan's blood?
I think the underlying implication is that the house/mansion is haunted. So, they are seeing moving shadows and blood and other things. Whether they actually saw those things or whether they imagines them is another question, but the implication is that the house is haunted.
