Horrible ending

I liked the movie up until Kassie meets Wally outside of his workplace. Don't get me wrong, I did want them to get together in end, but the movie should have been at least 15-20 minutes longer. They just forced it down our throats that they get together.

I really liked this movie, but I agree.

I think the ending was way to abrupt, they should have had a little more in there, talking about what happened to Roland and all, maybe showing Kassie breaking up with him or something.

So I agree, they should have added a little bit more to it.

Not only that, but I would have liked to see Wally explain to Kassie what happened that night... It was way too rushed and made it seem fake to me... she just told him that he'll be able to see his son, "under her conditions" and then the next thing you know they're making out and planning marriage. I just don't buy it. They put a lot of effort in the rest of the movie--they should have put a little more into the ending.

Yeah true

reply

I second that

I came hre to say the same thing. Really enjoyed the movie, but she went from seeing the kid only on her terms to practically accepting a marriage proposal in about five minutes!

it's one of the endings where you have to fill in the blanks, there wasn't a need to show him explaining everything bc obviously he did and she left roland, which she said she did, BECAUSE they get together. After your climax you're supposed to get out your movieas quickly as possible and they did that. I liked the ending as stated above, they were together so of course they hashed it out.

"After your climax you're supposed to get out your movieas quickly as possible and they did that."

Most of the five minutes post the climax was in fact spent on the three-legged, homeless dog...unexpected, but nicely done I thought, leaving some of the stuff unexplained

...it's alright, Ma, if I can't please him

I would imagine so!

This movie is soo predictable, of course they will end up together. This was clear from the beginning. So why waste time on showing them get together?

reply

I didn't like the ending at all either and also think it needed a lot more - I would have loved to see Wally and Kassie tell Sebastian that Wally was the "seed-guy." I really wanted to see what his reaction would be when he realized he knows his dad! It probably would have been a really really cute, happy, tearful moment. :,)

I like the Goldblum idea.. it's a few years later and the kid starts saying witty things but he stammers every few words. I smell a sequel!

reply

I agree that the movie would have been a lot better with a longer ending. As someone else said you know they will end up together, and I dont have a problem with that, since this type of movie, is just the way it is - sweet, predictable but very enjoyable. Which is also why I feel the audience got cheated out of some of the golden moments in the movie - which would be when they act got eachother and the kid finally got his family like he always wanted. Imo, they should have rather skipped a bit a head on the whole "switching" of the sperm samples and her wanting to get pregnant, than the ending..

life is what you make it!

I was expecting a lot more dialogue, too. Maybe Kassie starts with something like, "Sebastian misses you. I miss you too." Maybe Wally being gone from their lives made her realize how she can talk with him so much more than Roland or something like that.

I didn't really see them jumping into marriage right away because Kassie hadn't had any romantic or sexual feelings for Wally. Unless they had shown Wally trying to move on by dating another woman and Kassie feeling jealous.

All in all, I agree that I liked the movie but that the resolution at the end was way to abrupt.

reply

Yeah, the ending was lame but I forgave it because the rest of it was so thoroughly enjoyable. Kassie's finding Wally's neuroses suddenly endearing was just too much of a 360. Plus, they didn't really seem to have any chemistry. It was more fun watching JB and the kid.

How in God's name did you make it to the end????
