I loved this film.

This film is fantastic, considering the very visible limitations of it's budget. At first glance, the average person will not be able to keep their attention on it very long before moving on to something more mainstream.
For you serious SciFi/Horror fans however, this movie is most definitely worthy of respect. The acting is understandably terrible but as the movie progresses you realise that it is not the focus of the film, nor are the sub par special effects, which in on their own were good considering the low budget.

It has a way of actually making you uneasy at times, and a part of you is almost offended in a sense, at the idea that such low budget horror can almost scare you. Where the special effects and the vocal acting fall short, the body language of the actors, camera angles and fantastic sound effects make up for it. This kind of movie is not for the simple minded, and by that Im not saying that your dumb if you don't like it. Im simply saying that this type of cinematic stimulation is more psychological than visual.

I am reminded of such topics as "Number Stations", or perhaps the Mind Control experiments performed by the CIA in the late 60's. The characters are even at their most awkward moments likeable, and there really is no defining main character which is also a nice change of pace. I would say that in a genre that is completely overflowing with tons of worthless crap overdoing the whole demons, vampires and ghosts thing, this film is fairly realistic at least from a scientific sense.

It is not hollow by any stretch of the word and as you watch it you can tell how much thought and work went into the small details. Dont play it in the background as your doing something else, you wont fully appreciate what it has to offer. Let it play out as your lying in bed, or during a time there is nothing to do and you can give it the attention it deserves. As for crucifying it over it's lack of hollywood quality components, dont bother. Its not intended to compete with all the junk being produced for the idiot consumer.

It has a certain independance about it similar to the way Evil Dead did, and by that Im saying it has a feeling and an atmosphere all it's own. One striking thought I had as I watched it, was how generally unrealistic the kindness and politeness of some of the characters were, then the sad after thought hit me that it wasnt the characters that were unrealistic, but how far we as a country have strayed from showing basic courtesy. It was so unlike how we act now that you would almost think it was produced in the early 80s.

In short, watch this film if you appreciate and understand that it's not intended to be the standard low budget horror movie as much as an artistic composition.

R.I.P Punkfeggot. Your death weighs heavy on my heart.
