Oscar?

Maybe this will get Annasophia an Oscar nod. I know she's young, but she is an extremely talented actress.

That's a good question! i didn't think about that at first, but now that you mention it...AnnaSophia could get an oscar for this role. She is talented, and she is young but not too young!

I don't know. I've been casted in this movie as an acting role, I'm actually working with her on Saturday, but it seems like the script isn't focussed so much on her as you'd think. Although this is a very mature movie for this girl, I'll give her credit for that definately.

Just met Ms. Robb a week or so ago; she's great! Seems to have a good head on her shoulders...so far.

And the cast and producers (Charlize) must be ecstatic about the SNOW they finally have now!!!

Welcome to Saskatchewan in the winter! Hellooooooooooooooo -29!

Enjoy the Feature Presentation!

More likely a third nom for Charlize.

you never know. the little girl from little miss sunshine is nominated for an oscar this year. I guess we have to wait for the movie to actually come out b4 we can even talk about oscar noms.

i hope deborah lee furness (aka Mrs Hugh jackman) gets a good amount of screen time in this, she needs some hollywood roles. would be so cool if she got an oscar nod.

It kind of depends on the movie, but this movie sounds like an "Oscar Movie" lol.

I would like to see her get a nomination for Bridge to Terabithia but since that came out in February it might not get any nominations but i hope it can atleast get one because its a very good movie. Cant wait to see this movie either i like AnnaSophia Robb shes a good actress.

reply

Nick Stahl is the lead in it so maybe there is hope for him.

yeah... it was pretty sad considering that all the leads in the cast got nominations except for him. i thought he was amazing in that movie -.-

i think whoever just said in the beginning that this might give annasophia robb a nomination is right but also not just a nomination. She can also win the oscar for this role. I'm routing for her. She seems to have it all. Because the way her characters are in movies are strong enough it's beyond the level to reach the academy awards. she can probably compete against kathy bates and win right there. If I had a board and I was chosen to pick the winner between her and kathy bates I would choose annasophia over anyone as the oscar winner. Really I would. She is great at acting and wonderful when she sang that song keep your mind wide open and that she did so well in that it left me no choice but to send her an offer to sing in my band.
The point is I think annasophia deserves an oscar for all the hard work she has put in. If Anna Paquin can win an academy award at that age (it's true Anna Paquin did win but when she was way younger) then annasophia can be the next one to win it. I am casting my vote. All I need is a little help on how to do that. Anyone interested in sending me the instructions on how to let the oscars know who i wanta vote for and how do i register to do this and all?

reply

oh coach.. GET OVER THE SONG!!! it was a one off disney release that she did..

man you just amuse me so much.. now you think yu can vote in teh oscars???

I believe that she deserves an Oscar for her performance in Bridge to Terabithia... that was a truly amazing and inspiring performance. She is talented enough to win one definitely... It's just up to the academy to see that talent.

reply

let's be honest...
this movie is having it's big release in March 2008.... If you want Oscars, release it post September.. Go back the last three years and only 2 of the 15 Best Actress nominees were in movies that made their public debut before October 1st.

Many of the reviews I have read so far about Sleepwalking (despite the large amount of rants about the plot, mood, etc.) indicate that both Stahl and Robb have Oscar-worthy performances. Even for a movie that is supposedly bad (which I have to judge for myself once I see it) almost everyone is pretty much saying Annasophia displayed one of the best performances of any young actress in a long time.

reply

"Yannicinco" is absolutely right. Even some of the *crankiest* of critics admitted Annasophia turned in one of the best performances. While it's true that most nominations come from *Oscar Bait* films released in Fall & early Winter, it's not a given that a performance seen earlier in the year will be completely forgotten. The DVD will be released this summer, so many people (including Academy voters) who were unable to see the film, will get to view it. If Annasophia's (& Nick Stahl's) performance is as powerful as I've heard, she may have a remote chance. I mean, I've seen a review comparing her to Jodie Foster,so, evidently, her work had to be above-average here. A plus for Annasophia is that she is a less-pretentious,"under-the-radar" young actress. She's not "waiting for the pot to boil" as the saying goes, with an acceptance speech all written out. Those are the types of young nominees the Academy usually appreciates. Anna Paquin, Tatum O'Neal, Haley Joel Osment, etc. were either complete *newbies* to the movies or non-*BRAND-NAME* child actors.

I'm just hoping ASR & Stahl don't get overshadowed by the *Oscar-Bait-Hype-Machines* of other wealthier studios with more *popular* stars. I'd like to see another "Half Nelson" type success story in this instance.

Age shouldn't matter, she's very talented and she deserves an Oscar, but oh well... one person will get the Oscar and the movie he or she is in will win all the prizes... This award sucks, seriously, I don't know what all the fuss is about... I'll create my own award show and call it... Alfred... or whatever XD

reply

Annasophia did a great job, as usual, but stand out performance for me was Nick Stahl. If i had to pick one person to get an oscar nod from this film, he would get it.
