I thought they were calling her Terra the whole time...

While I was watching this I was thinking 'Terra, that's an interesting name, I like it' so at the end I had a look at the credits to see how it was spelled, like Terra, Tera, Terror or what, and what do I see? Tara.

Is that how all Americans pronounce the name Tara? So that it sounds like Terra? Because I've certainly never heard it pronounced that way before...and I'm curious

Terra does seem like a neater spelling for such a name. Never thought about such a question / concept before. Anywho... Most in the U.S. do pronounce Tara the same way as in the film. I'm guessing, you pronounce it the way Mrs. Bergen, Warren's mother, did, as in TAR-uh or T-are-uh. I hope that's the proper way to write the pronunciation.

Are you American, amelia? Because I'm not, and I totally get what you're saying. It started way back with Mean Girls. Every time they said Aaron I heard 'Erin', and it wasn't until I saw the credits that I realised they were saying Aaron that entire time. I've since learned to adapt my hearing, it's just how Americans pronounce names with 'ar' in them.

I only do it with superheroes.

@ScreenQueen Yep I totally know what you mean! Nope I'm Australian, and I thought exactly the same thing watching Mean Girls for the first time, like "OK I thought Erin was a girls name...interesting"
And yeah, my cousins called Tara and we pronounce it, um, Tara. Haha as in Tar-A, like Tar on the road, then a, like rhymes with ha. Rhymes with Cara or Lara, but now I'm thinking Americans might pronounce them differntly too? hahaha

That would make sense if her last name is Bithia.
