Why doesn't plot just say 15 year-old? Then everything would be ok.
AnnaSophia is actually 14 and I believe she was 12 when the movie was filmed... and the character Tara is 11... Only a year difference... So I'm not sure what your beef is homie

Lizzy Caplan (22-23 yrs old at the time) played the role of Janis Ian in 'Mean Girls', who's character is a teenager (probably 16-17).
A part of an actor/actress's job is to portray roles that are assigned to them, and age (depending on how old) is part of that challenge. Tara in Sleepwalking is an 11-year old going into 12, which was pretty much Annasophia's age when she was filming it. So I don't know what the big deal is here.

thats not a spoiler. she is 11....jolleen is to be back by her birthday when she would turn 12, and does infact turn 12...big deal. she doesnt look all that much older than 13-14...and sorry but most middle school girls have bodies of 10th graders nowadays so i dont see the issue. i just hosted a birthday party for my 12 yo sister earlier this year and some of those kids in bathing suits could put me to shame, it was ridiculous!

A scene in the film shows James stopping by the foster care home to give Tara a present for her--that's right--12TH birthday. So yes, she is 12, but not at the start of the movie.
I personally don't get this talk about her looking so much more mature than she is. Tara was in her preteens and she certainly looked and acted in such a way. I honestly don't know how people can actually say Annasophia looks like an adult.

AnnaSophia was 12 and did turn 13 during the production of the movie on December 8. So the actress only played the character a year younger than she actually was at the time of filming. You could say that the timeframe of the movie takes place in December of 2005 when the actress was 11 turning 12 as christmas trees and holiday decorations were being sold in the scene where James and Tara play hide & seek/catch me if you can in the (greenhouse type ???) building.

It was filmed in the last months of 2006, as ASR herself went from being 12 to 13.
She's well-developed and mature looking for a 12-year old. Some girls are.

why do Tara & ASR half to be the same age? in Spy School she plays a12 yr old. she and the other gal are just a few months diff in age or in BTT she and the gal at the bathroom are just three months diff. they look years apart. that is acting!
shareseriously movie makers have been doing it for years. decades. god look at One tree hill, O.C, smallville, any tv show they are meant to be 15-18. but all of them actors are minimum 21-31. but if you go the other way, check out Ellen Page, plays a 15yo in Juno, when shes 22, or alison lohman plays a 14yo in matchstick men when shes 22, bla bla bla, so does it matter. the scripts usually get written and then they look to see who they can get to fill it.

My goodness.... how old did the girl look? She easily passes as 12. If she played a 14 year old.... I would think the opposite -- she looks too young. 12 seems about right and from others have said, she was about that old at the time of filming.
