best and worst character reviews

If you haven't already been able to tell, I absolutely love BT2. Anyway, I though it would be a good idea to discuss the best and worst characters from the game, and this way swap strategies and such. Decide who to be, and who not to be.

GOOD CHARACTERS:

-Goku (standard/SS/SS2/SS3 version): As the main man, they had to make this guy good. And sure enough, they did just that. In every form he has a melee and projectile attack alike, meaning he can take care of anyone regardless of size. His version of the Spirit Bomb is the most damaging Ultimate Blast in the game. In every form he's a solid fighter.

-All Great Ape characters: These guys don't flinch from melee attacks, making them absolute powerhouses. When it comes to brute strength these guys are amongst the finest choosable characters. If you're up against someone who has no projectile-oriented Blast 2 or Ultimate Blast moves, they're screwed. Period. And they can reach max power mode with only 2 blast stocks, thanks to the Howl technique.

-Hildegarn: Strength. Awesome energy attacks. all the size advantages of a Great Ape. This guy is tricky to play at first, but get the hang of him and he can quickly become your new favorite.

-Baby Vegeta: In every form this guy either has Finger Blitz Barrage or a stronger variant - one of the best and most damaging projectile attacks in the game. Not to mention every time he transforms his Ki gauge fills up to 5 units. If you want to cheese your enemy to death with FBB, THIS is the man to play as. Oh, and let's not forget that Golden Great Ape transformation!

-Frieza (Form 4 100%): Best Frieza in the game. The Destructo Discs are great because they are both powerful and seek out the target, making it easy to deal with a foe of any size. If you're fighting a standard-size foe, the Nova Strike is a great melee Blast 2. Of course, if you want to use the Giant Death Ball ultimate blast, he also has the Long-Awaited For 100% Blast 1 to reach Max Power mode faster, provided you have the blast stocks. TIP: Start as Form 4 1% and transform into this form. After the transformation you'll have five full Ki gauges - great for striking with those destructo discs.

-Burter: This guy isn't terribly powerful, but he can reach Max Power mode VERY quickly, thanks to a Blast 1 that lets him charge up to Max mode with only a single blast stock. This makes it easy to cheese the enemy to death with a mixture of high speed rush's and the space mach attack. Plus the guy has speed on his side and hits faster than anyone else. Even if you're stuck fighting a big guy, you've still got the Energy Ball attack. By far the best Ginyu Force character in the game.

-Vegeta (Saiyan Saga): A Great Ape transformation is certainly an attraction here, but even in his humanoid state he kicks butt. Final Galic Cannon is an absolutely excellent Blast 2 that does over 10000 damage. And of course, how can you not love Dirty Fireworks?

-All Super Saiyan 4 characters: These guys are insanely strong and can even hurt big guys with physical strikes. There's no greater joy than doing a Tag Battle and fusing SS4 Goku and SS4 Vegeta into SS4 Gogeta. As an added incentive, if you successfully perform this fusion, SS4 GOGETA STARTS IN MAX POWER MODE! Right after the fusion, get in your foe's face and let them have it with the 100X Big Bang Kamehameha.

-Raditz: The Volley Blast is tough to dodge, the high speed attack is an excellent melee blast 2, and he's got a Great Ape transformation beyond all that. A surprisingly good character.

-Android 13: If launched at close range, all forms of the SS Deadly Bomber are virtually impossible to dodge. Not to mention he has some pretty damaging other attacks.

-Android 18: The best android. Destructo Discs are great, period. Not to mention her other attacks aren't half bad, and if you can save up three blast stocks you can go straight to max power mode with a blast 1.

-Turles: This guy's Blast 2's are EXTREMELY tough to dodge - one is a big blast, and one seeks. If fired in fairly close range he can be virtually unstoppable. And of course, the Great Ape transformation.

-Kid Buu: Speed and powerful attacks, this guy gives you the best of both worlds.

-Fat Buu: Chocolate Beam is a great melee attack, and his other blast 2 and ultimate blast can easily catch a foe off guard who is planning a close-range assault.

-Broly (Legendary form): An absolute powerhouse whose strength is tough to match. Enough said.

BAD CHARACTERS:

-Yajirobe: Low life bar, pathetic attacks that can't exceed 10000 damage, can't fly to save his life. Enough said.

-Janemba (fat): This guy's immune to melee blast 2s and ultimates due to his size, but that's about the only good thing about him. His attacks are inaccurate and he's VERY difficult to control. Skip to his second form before you start the fight.

-Broly (first form): Slow and weak, and cumbersome and difficult to use. Start in Legendary form.

-Super Buu (Gotenks Absorbed) His Blast 2s are Galactic Donuts and Special Beam Cannon, both of which suck. Any other Super Buu has great Blast 2s, including Chocolate Beam.

-Nappa: Slow, easy to evade projectile attacks tarnish an otherwise good character. Fortunately he's redeemed by the Great Ape form.

Guldo: Slow and tough to control. He can reach Max Power mode quickly, but it's tough to connect with his ultimate. Not to mention his other moves are pretty worthless too. Even the Volley, his one useful blast attack, doesn't do a whole lot of damage.

Captain Ginyu: If you change bodies, you don't get your foe's body. You get the body of a random Frieza era character, and CAN NOT USE THEIR SPECIAL MOVES!? WTF!? Way to totally ruin a cool character. They didnt have this problem in the original Tenkaichi, why tarnish the guy in this game?

Androids 19 and 20. They can't charge their Ki. physically hitting the enemy is the only way to get Ki, making these guys pretty worthless. not to mention their standard melee combos suck, and their other attacks are predictable.

Roshi/Grandpa Gohan/Tao: They suck at flying and have pathetic attacks and lower life than the other characters. MASSIVE delays when using the Kamehameha, too. AVOID, unless you want a challenge.

Tien/Chiaotzu/Android 16/Majin Vegeta/Saibaman: All of these characters Ultimate Blasts are suicidal, and the damage dealt with these kamikaze moves is absolutely pathetic. Tien and Chiaotzu have the Dodon Ray, which is very inaccurate and predictable, as well. Android 16's fist blast is also predictable.

Piccolo: WHY, oh why, did you make one of the coolest characters in the series so crappy in this game!? His ultimate blast is horribly inaccurate and barely does any damage if it hits. The Special Beam Cannon, regardless of who is wielding it, sucks in this game, because it both has a delay and is inaccurate. His only good move is the Light Grenade, and even it's useless if launched at a distance.

Cell Jr.: Ultimate Blast is a horribly inaccurate Kamehameha. Low life. Lousy projectile attacks. High Speed Rush is his only good move, and even that's useless against big characters.

Hercule: Do you really NEED an explanation on this one? VERY low life, lower than anyone else in the game. the same crappy flying as Roshi, Grandpa Gohan, and Tao. When he hits an enemy with a standard attack, THEY DON'T EVEN FLINCH. He's obviously a joke. Note however, he's NOT all bad if you know what you're doing - he comes into battle with a full Ki gauge, and it's quite possible to cheese an enemy to death with King Of Dreamers. But don't risk it, okay? Pick someone else.

Vegeta (Cell and Buu saga forms): Final Flash and Big Bang are slow, predictable attacks.

Trunks (sword): No melee blast 2s whatsoever (except for his ultimate in SS form), not to mention his energy attacks are slow and easy to avoid. You're screwed if you're up against a foe that likes to cheese you to death with melee strikes.

Trunks (no sword, Ultimate Super Saiyan form (AKA Super Trunks): sucks for the same reasons Trunks with sword sucks. Read above. Except this version REALLY has no melee blast 2s, not to mention he loses a LOT of his speed.

Great Saiyaman/Videl in both forms: No projectiles so you're screwed against big guys like GreaT apes. Fortunately, Saiyaman Gohan can detransform into forms with projectiles.

Supreme Kai/Kibitokai: Pathetic combos with his standard melee attacks let the enemy get the best of you when you least expect it, not to mention his special moves are nothing spectacular.

Frieza (all forms but 4th form 100%): Death Beam is one of the crappiest projectiles in the game and is insanely easy to evade. His only really good attacks are the melee blast 2s, and not every form has them. Not to mention even those are useless on big guys like Great Apes.

Cyborg Frieza: Take Form 4 100% frieza and take away all his good moves, and you're left with this metallic hunk of junk. Death beam sucks, we've been over that before. Fissure slash is almost as bad. To use his blast 1 to reach max power, you need THREE blast stocks (this was ok with form 4 100% since he had good moves to keep the foe at bay with, which this guy doesnt.)

Cell (all forms): This guy sucks in every form. He has the worst projectile attacks in the game (special beam cannon, death beam, etc.) Only in his Perfect Form (not the reincarneted perfect form) does he have a useful one - Destructo disc. but as a whole this guy is disposable.

Gotenks (all forms beyond the first): This guy has nothing but inaccurate projectiles as Blast 2s. If you're gonna play Gotenks, be him in the first form, so you can at least have the High Speed Rush.

That's all for now. More to come later, possibly.

Androids 19 and 20. They can't charge their Ki. physically hitting the enemy is the only way to get Ki, making these guys pretty worthless. not to mention their standard melee combos suck, and their other attacks are predictable.

NO ANDROID can charge their KI. not even your "favourite" Android 18 can charge her KI.
The only exception to when they're able to charge their ki is when their ki bars are already full. When they're full, then they can charge the "blue" coloured ki in order to reach MAX mode.
Androids 19 and 20 are weak fighters, but they have 1 main advatage VS other chars: Their ABSORPTION powers. Their throw move can absorb HP and KI from their opponent, and MOST importantly, both androids can use a ki absorption move to fully absorb ki blasts and even blast 2's!! By absorbing the ki attacks thrown at them, it adds to their own ki bar.

Vegeta (Cell and Buu saga forms): Final Flash and Big Bang are slow, predictable attacks

Vegeta in cell and buu saga don't suck. Far from it. They're actually very good, effective chars to play.

For one, Vegeta in any form can charge his ki at a very fast rate. The only exception is Vegeta(scouter) who has an average charge rate, and Majin Vegeta who is slow at charging.
The Later forms of Vegeta (especially "second form") are also particularly good at conserving their KI. Vegeta in second form usually only needs 3 or less ki bars in order to do their blast 2 attacks.

In contrast to Goku , Vegeta seems to improve and becomes easier to use as he gains better forms where as Goku actually becomes harder to use.

When Goku gains higher forms, his ki charge rate gets slower. Just take a look at his SSJ3 form. His Ki charge rate in SSJ3 mode is extremely slow.
When Goku gains higher forms, the cost of his KI bars for blast 2's also increases. In SSJ1 his meteor Smash Attack only cost 3 ki bars. In SSJ2 it's raises to 4 bars which reduces it's usefulness especially if you happen to (want to)use that move very often. SSJ3 it gets even worse. Both his blast 2's require 4 bars to use, PLUS SSJ3 has a slow ki charge rate. If you're using SSJ3 Goku, you might as well forget about using blast 2's cos they're so hard to build up again, once you use them (unless you use his blast 1 ability: POTL to instantly recharge his ki bar).

btw note that: NOWHERE did I say that Goku sucks, I'm only mentioning Goku in this case because you seem to think he's the absolute best where as all forms of Vegeta (apart from scounter, since you seem to like button mashing with the great ape characters) totally sucks.

Most versions of Vegeta are good for their own reasons:

Cell Saga Vegeta in his base form can use a "full-power" move (blast 1) which automatically brings him to MAX power mode and raises his stats. This is the only Vegeta character in the game that has such a move (other forms of vegeta usually only have hi-tension, saiyan soul of finish sign ) making this version of Vegeta very unique. Plus he has the Ki blast volley blast 2 which is a decent attack that's easy to use reasonably hard to avoid.
Also what makes Cell saga Vegeta good, is that in all 3 forms of Vegeta (base, SSJ and "super" SSJ), they all have completely different move-set to each other, which makes each form more unique to play as.

Super Vegeta is an excellent character. Increased in power, without losing speed (contrary to Super (USSJ) Trunks).
He's a strong melee fighters who also happens to have good blast 2 attacks. Spirit Breaking Cannon is one of the best Rush supers in the game - after he throws his opponent (at the end of the super), you can use the time to either power up, or you can dash after them and follow up with more combos.
Big Bang Attack charges up pretty fast and does good damage.

Vegeta 2nd form is the best form yet. He's basically Vegeta (Cell saga), but even faster, uses less ki for his blast 2, and can charge his ki slightly faster as well. (he can charge the blue ki bar extremely FAST).
His energy blast volley (blast 2) only requires ONE(!!) ki bar to perform. Combined with his faster charge time for ki, Vegeta can almost practically use this move every time.
2nd form Vegeta's base form is awesome. He can do everything SSJ Vegeta can do, but in BASE form. Big Bang Attack is an ultimate blast, but at least it only requires 4 blast stocks (where most UB's require 5) and there is no charge time which makes this better than SSJ Vegeta's(cell saga) blast 2 version which also requires 4 ki bars, but also needs to be charged.
Plus 2nd form vegeta can do Gallic Gun with only 2 ki bars. The cheapest Gallic gun usage ever!

Cell (all forms): This guy sucks in every form. He has the worst projectile attacks in the game (special beam cannon, death beam, etc.) Only in his Perfect Form (not the reincarneted perfect form) does he have a useful one - Destructo disc. but as a whole this guy is disposable.

I actually think that Semi-Perfect Cell is pretty good.

His throw move allows him to drain HP from any non-android opponent and then when he knocks them away after the throw, you can follow up with a Blast 2 of your choice.
Also, he has one of the best Blast 2 rush moves in the game: A combo attack, which also drains life.
what makes this blast2 move particularly good is that it's easily accessible. Imperfect Cell, and android 19, 20 all need to be in MAX power mode in order to use their "super" versions of the drain move (because they're all UB's) Semi-Perfect Cell's version only requires a blast 2 which is much easier to do.

If you can consistently throw, and land his rush supers on a constant basis, it's very difficult for a good Semi-Perfect Cell user to actually lose.

Also, another thing that makes Semi-Perfect Cell, a good character imo is that he's the only Cell character than can use a "power up" ability from a blast 1 called "Pump up" which raises 3 skill attributes.
Other versions of Cell especially the "perfect" versions don't even have a blast-1 power-up ability.

I'm abit bored.
Here's my list:

Good chars:

- Trunks (base, SSJ).
Excellent well-balanced char (good, strengh, speed, defence..etc). Decent Ki charge. Decent blast 2 consumption. (blast 2 attacks require only 3 or less ki bars).

- Vegeta (android Saga) (ESPECIALLY Super Vegeta)
All 3 versions have their own individual moves. They're not just copies of each other.
Super Vegeta is one of my favourite Vegeta characters ever. He has all of Vegeta's trademark moves: Big Bang and Final Flash. Good power, and speed. His melee blast 2 attack is excellent.

-Vegeta (2nd Form) base form.
I like Vegeta2nd in base form, mainly because he has abit of everything from Vegeta (android saga) which is good if you want a complete character
Plus, Vegeta 2nd form has the lowest ki cost for blast 2 compared to most other characters in the game. Only 2 ki bars for Gallic Gun and only 1 bar for Super Energy Volley. He's also gotten faster compared to his previous android saga form.
I didn't quite like his SSJ1, SSJ2 forms. Even though they're just as good. They just feel like repetitions. Android Saga Vegeta for example has different blast 2's when you use his different forms..but 2nd form Vegeta simply has the same blast 2 (all of them have super energy volley) and they just change Gallic Gun and Final Flash around.

- Android Characters: (especially 18, 17, Super 17, 13(fusion) )
Android chars can't charge their ki, unless it's already full (they can charge their 'blue' coloured ki to reach max mode).. BUT to make up for it.. their ki gradually recharges by itself at a fair rate. Not having to charge your ki makes these guys VERY efficient fighters. Where as other characters have to spend time to stop and recharge their ki, these guys don't and can focus on attacking.
Their ki consumption is good. They don't have any blast 2's that are over 3 ki bars unless it was a UB, plus they have well-balanced stats: Having good power, defence and speed etc.. Plus, these guys also CANNOT be drained by characters such as 19 and 20 and the 'weaker' forms of cell. If you're hiding, android characters also cannot be Z-searched.

-Pikkon
Good+fast melee fighter. Comparable to Burter+Piccolo. A well balanced character in terms of stats who also happens to be extremely fast at attacking and movement. He also has a unique type of Blast 2 attack: Something that looks like M.Bison's super move in the SF alpha games.

-SSJ Kid Trunks/ SSJ Goten.
I decided to put them together cos I like them for the same reason. They're fun to use.
They have very good energy comsumption. both of their blast 2 attacks only uses up 2 ki bars. good ki charge rate.

-Teen Gohan (especially SSJ2).
Another well balanced character. Good power, excellent speed, good choice of blast 2 attacks. The SSJ2 version is extremely powerful. the speed of his attacks and his movement in SSJ2 are just amazing.

-Piccolo:
Ok Special Beam Cannon may not be a favourite (too difficult to use cos of the long charge time, plus it uses up 4 ki bars), but on the other hand, Piccolo is one of the best fighters in the game. His speed is excellent. the Speed of his attacks are even better (even his strong attacks are fast), and his ki charge rate is FAST!
Plus he's good better range with his melee attacks than most other characters (plus definitely a better range for his throws).

-Ultimate (Mystic) Gohan:
One of the strongest physical (melee) fighter in the game definitely. When used right, this is one of the strongest character in hand-to-hand. He's also got good reach on his melee attacks.
If he ever reaches MAX power mode.. he can do huge damage with his combos.

-Majin Vegeta
I don't know if I like him or hate him (he creeps me out). Basically he's my least favourite Vegeta form (because I like the variety that other vegeta characters have).. but Majin Vegeta (similar to Mystic Gohan) is also a powerful Melee fighter. this guy has two types of blast 1 attacks which raises his attack power and they only use up 2 blast stocks.. which means Vegeta can power up rather easily.
His UB is useful if both fighters are about to lose any way. the move is unblockable and it makes a good last attempt move to finish them off.

-SSJ4 Goku.
the best form of Goku. Basically.. if you take every GOOD aspect of all the previous Goku forms and put it together = you get this one.
Instant Transmission is one of the mos useful blast 1 moves in the game, and SSJ4 Goku is extremely powerful with this skill.
His ki charge rate returns to average speed in this form (it really sucks in SSJ3 form) and his blast 2 rush move goes back to being a 3 ki bar move instead of the 4 ki bar move for the SSJ2 form.

Super Perfect Cell.
Ok..exchanging his great Disctructo disk move in favour of death beam wasn't good. But that's the only bad thing about this version of Cell.
Basically, this version takes whatever is good about regular perfect Cell and improves on it. Cell has good power and defence, and rather average speed. He also has good range on his melee attacks) similar to Piccolo and Ultimate Gohan.
Instant Transmission and Wild Sense also makes him a very difficult character to hit. Plus he can do an easier version of the Spirit Bomb.

2nd form Cell:
an average, well balanced form, with hp draining abilities (his throw and blast 2.

Ginyu Force Characters (except for Guldo).
they're interesting characters with good blast 1 abilities and even more unique characteristics and play styles. These guys are both Fun to use and effective to play as.
My favourites are Burter (the best imo), Ginyu and Rikuum.

-SSJ Vegetto/Gogeta:
Basically just for Fanboyish reasons. Their ki charge rate is really slow. (seems to happen to all fusion characters) and their blast 2 attacks usually use up 4 ki bars, meaning that most of the time you'll be using melee attacks.
Because I liked Vegetto and Gogeta in the anime so I play them any way. Also, they're good if I wanna use a strong melee based fighter who isn't Ultimate Gohan.

Bad chars:

-1st form cell:
This is basically the form of cell that has all the crappy stuff that 2nd form cell doesn't have.

-Cell Junior: Peskier and more annoying than 1st form cell, but just equally as bad.

-Saibamen: Just how good did you expect these guys to be??

- General Tao/Master Roshi/Grandpa Gohan/Hercule/Yajirobee.
I think no explanations necessary. Some of them are fun to play I suppose. But only for fun.

reply

If you ask me Piccolo is a good character I can handle him very well and he's fast and his hell flash grenade is Good And Special beam cannon Is STRONG very strong it takes time yes but take some distance and bam

im back !!!

reply

Hercule is pretty good for cheapshots. Besides I usually dont use blasts that often, I hand to hand combat. Some combos can do more then an ultimate blast. You must be one of those noobs who just charge their ki and just fire blast attacks non-stop. Im best with first form frieza because I can do combos and fire his death beam to where it never misses.

reply

Stopped reading when I got to Piccolo. He is one of the best characters in his game, unless you are a beginner and just spam B2s.
