Does this improve on a second viewing?

I saw this a while back, around the time it won all those Oscars, and I wasn't a big fan. I was actually kinda bored throughout the movie, as it seemed like almost nothing really happened throughout. It's on my NetFlix queue right now, though, because I'm curious to see if it'll get better on a second watch. Did that happen for any of you guys, where you weren't that big on it the first time only for it to get better on repeat viewings? Thanks!

I'm watching it again now for probably the 5th or 6th time. I love it because it seems realistic like you're there with them. I'm not military so I'm sure a lot of people will dispute how realistic it actually is, but there's just something that sticks with me. And the acting is excellent, so give it another shot because to me it just gets better.

I agree, I saw it at the movies on Oscar night and found it rather pedestrian, also. I'm not sure if I want to invest another two hours and ten minutes for a repeat viewing.

Glad I only wasted 10 seconds reading your post.

" I was actually kinda bored throughout the movie "

Probably a symptom of your generation.

Getting bored by a boring movie? Yeah, I'm sure it's a generational thing.

I saw this shortly after it came out, and like you, i was bored. But after watching again, not so much. Now I've seen it half a dozen times, and i think it's a solid movie.

It is better on a second viewing. Look at the movie as a character study more than a war film. I think it's pretty fantastic, actually.

reply

Nope, it doesn't. I think it's due to the bad cinematography. It'd be probably wiser to read a book instead.

This doesn't deserve a 2nd viewing, as do few movies that cannot make a positive impact on the 1st viewing.
