This would be called a bad movie if anyone else made it

Yes the coen's have a well deserved and great reputation but this is them making a sub par film plain and simple. I love most their work and especially raising arizona. That film was close in tone to this but it was amazing, burn after reading just failed to me. Now I know why its getting all this praise and a rating of 7 on here though. People are simply afraid to say that 2 geniuses in the coen bros simply are human now and then and not perfect.

Nope this is a bad movie and the only coen brothers movie I dislike(haven't seen llewlyn davis or intolerable cruelty), I can't find anything I enjoyed about it.

I found it to be average and found it to be that way before I saw the end credits and learned the Coens were the creators. It isn't a bad movie but it isn't really that good either.

don't go acting like a 7/10 is a super high rating on IMDb, because there are some really horrible movies with 7+ ratings, and I don't think it would be all that different of a rating if a no name made it.

I don't think it would be much reaction different if Alejandro González Iñárritu directed the film.

I am sorry to disagree with you all but Burn After Reading is another Coen Brothers masterpiece. It requires multiple viewings like most of the best Coen Brothers films. This film and A Serious man are the last great Coen films. No Country for old Men was garbage. They did not write it and it showed

Yup. I watched it three times with multiple years intervals (just finished watching it for the third time this evening). It is hilarious and a great movie.

I fell asleep the first time I saw this movie. (I was on a strong sedative though, so we can't hold it against the movie.) The second time I liked it, but I didn't hold it in the same regard with their great ones. (Miller's Crossing is still my favorite, though you don't hear about that one as much for some reason.) I have seen it a couple times since and it does seem to get better with each viewing, for me at least. The one that gets the raves, No Country, I can't understand what people see in it. I didn't enjoy it the first time, and recently tried it again with the same effect.

You should after a couple of years. It really becomes better.

Agree with the OP. I was surprised by how "meh" this film was when I first saw it in theater. 10 years later and I feel the same about it. It definitely missed the mark but gets a pass because it was made by.

Absolutely. This happened to suburbicon. Actually I think Suburbicon was better than BAR but unfortunately Suburbicon got lower ratings...
