It's so cute when conservatives try to be funny

It's like when you see a little kid digging a hole and he says he's going to china.

I stumbled upon this show a few days ago and I thought it was a spoof on Fox News by another show. But then I realized the "spoof" was bad and it was a REAL SHOW! At first I felt embarrassed for the people at Fox, kinda like when you see a person making a fool of themselves. They should try to get real guests and see if that helps, otherwise just get rid of the show. CNN or MSNBC don't try and fill this niche. This show isn't even so bad it's funny (like The Andy Milonakis Show), it's just plain old bad. I don't think this show caters to the type of viewer that already watches Fox News.

reply

You think that's bad? Ever heard a conservative try to make a rock album?

Go here: http://www.therightbrothers.com And don't believe that they're a pair of liberals trying to make the Right look bad. It's all 100% real.

I think the show's hilarious... just not for the right reasons. It's funny to witness the desperation and the extremely limited pool of material these people have to draw from.

And I was rolling on the floor listening to how frightened Dennis Miller has become. I never knew this guy was such an incredible coward, but he's just short of screaming like a little girl.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw him on O-Lielly. What a little BITCH!! Hahahaha! It was hilarious! Some of the funniest stuff he's said in 10 years! They mine as well give him his own show right now. That's where it's headed. What a stooge...

I felt the same way. It's like some kind of stereotypical reality; conservatives can't be funny. Although Dennis Miller is still pretty entertaining, I'm not sure that's the same as being funny. Who can think of a funny conservative?

reply

Funny conservatives? Walter Williams, PJ O'Rourke, Evan Sayet, Christopher Buckley & Evelyn Waugh. That was easy.

Come on guys, put aside your political bias & at least give me credit for NOT adding Larry the Cable Guy or Dave Barry to my list.

Here's the deal: I agree that this show was a bad idea. Basically just a right-wing reaction to the Daily Show. Sort of how Air America was a pale imitation of right-wing talk radio. Both were destined to flop. Love them or hate them, Rush Limbaugh & Jon Stewart developed their shows organically. Politics aside, one can't just copy a successful formula & expect lightning to strike again.

I checked out a few of the people you listed on youtube and I think you have PERFECTLY made my point. NONE of those people are funny.

reply

Wow. Just... wow.

Parkpunk-watching a few 30 second video clips doesn't qualify you to judge the comedic talent of men primarily known as writers.

reply

Better yet, how about you guys hire some people who can tell a joke that isn't centered around their hatred of themselves and the world around them.

Most of them were pretty long, like 5 minutes or more. I found all of them to be cynical and sarcastic with a veiled anger underlying their comments. I am fully qualified to judge comedic talents and all the people you listed got an F. You may agree with their political opinions, I actually thought Buckley made some good points, but they absolutely are not funny people. Not in the slightest.

reply

I'd say Penn Jilette but he's a Libertarian. And as wel all know, that whole "small government, controlled spending, dealing with domestic problems" spiel isn't the in-thing for Republicans anymore.

Glenn Becks a conservative and he's usually pretty funny.

The 1/2 Hour News Hour just sucked out loud.

One of the great things about TDS and TCR is that their hosts have personalities. These two are just mouthpiece actors for disgruntled Republicans.

I can't wait to see if they do for business humor what they did for satire.

That is how we feel when liberals try to pass themselves off as intellectuals.

reply

Most liberals aren't intellectuals.
But most intellectuals are liberals.
Real conservatives are dying out and replaced by right-wing extremist nutjobs.

Nonsense. Most intellectuals the media pays attention to are liberals. And if you're a leftist, let someone else play the "nutjob" card. You guys have enough of those to populate an entire planet.
