What is the mesmerizing piano piece that Joss Acland played?

Does anyone know the artist and/or the title of the beautiful piano piece that he played?

I, too, was moved by that piece. It is Erik Satie's Gnossienne#4. I have been listening to samplings of it at various music sites, with the intent of purchasing it. I haven't found an interpretation that I like as well as the one played in this movie. The closest that I could come was in an album called "After the Rain...The Soft Sounds of Erik Satie" performed by Pascal Rogé. The same piece is also performed by Rogé in "Satie: 3 Gymnopédies and Other Piano Works". Both can be found at Amazon.com. The other artists that I found performing the piece either played it too fast or too slow for my taste.

Thank you for doing all the ground work. I loved the film, loved the music and was so pleased to find your post. I've just been to Amazon and bought the "After The Rain" album.

Why Richard, it profits a man nothing to give his soul for the whole world ... but for Wales?

It is indeed Erik Satie Gnossienne nr.4, but sounds very much like the version played in the movie Being There. The arrangement was by Johnny Mandel. You can find various versions on YouTube. It is Fabulous!
