The new mythology they added makes this a mess

The new mythology of a stabbing puzzle box and getting one of seven choices for every seven sacrifices really made this movie a stupid mess. Pinhead clearly told Voight he can't return the gift of sensation but only try other gifts, so if he had chosen the Lament configuration he would've been returned to normal and gone on his way as Riley did since she chose that. You can't say Pinhead was trying to trick Voight since Pinhead was puzzled that Riley would choose the Lament configuration by refusing their gifts because it was supposed to be the worse in the cenobites' eyes. Pinhead would've told Voigt when he asked to take that thing out of him that he chose the Lament configuration instead of trying to talk him into the Leviathan configuration.

I take it this movie was a flop since there is no word on a sequel.
