Extended edition?

So having read up a ton on the movie, I noticed that a bunch of songs were cut, others were barely included, and the ones that will be included on the bluray will be as bonus features and not integrated into the film.

Considering it had a limited release, why on earth was the film cut down as well? More importantly, is there any word, or any possibility that we'll ever get a chance to watch the full film? It's completely absurd that a film with such a niche release had to be cut down, and that even the home release won't be a full one.
