semi off topic: comedy central is government run?

no, it's run by ctv inc. canadian networks do get funding from the canadian government to produce canadian content. but since they would rather just buy an already-successful american program, they dump the canadian show into a timeslot where they know it will fail. that way, they can use government funds to produce canadian shows and then complain that the money is being wasted and would be better used buying more american shows.
they have done right by corner gas, although it was just dumb luck that this one struck a chord with the canadian audience.
