If you watch Meteor Garden, please post what country you live in.

I just want to know if you are an American and still love Meteor Garden.

reply

So if I'm not American you don't want to know if I love MG?

reply

Well, I'm Canadian and I like Meteor Garden.

Although honestly...sometimes I cringe when the sap is poured on too thick.
Other than that, it's pretty addicting.
SanChai is very "fan" sometimes because of her indecisions but everything else is great. The actors are all very good especially SanChai, DaoMingSi, XiaoYou and Huaze Lei (sorry I don't know the names but I thought they deserved props).

I'm going to check out "Hana Yori Dango" soon.
I'm curious to see how Matsumoto Jun will play the Dao Ming Si character.

You should really check it out. It's an amazing show and even though Matsujun's character was really grating and annoying at first, I've grown to really love him. Matsujun plays Tsukasa to perfection.

that's a bit racist don't you think?

american pfftt..

meteor garden sux

the japanese version is better

reply

Err, well I'm American and I like Meteor Garden and Hana Yori Dango. They both are good.
I think HYD has better actors though, (Because the MG actors were just starting out) and better cinematography with the sets and all. But Meteor Garden has more details and isn't as fast-paced--not that fast-paced is a bad thing. I also really liked that "Nouveau Riche" boy character in MG that HYD didn't have. He was funny.

I live in the UK and I'm watching Meteor Garden, luv F4

Aussie right here! I have just finished watching Meteor Garden (over an intense 3-day schedule of course) and I LOVED it!

Honestly, I did not have high expectations and did not know what to expect, as I had never seen a Taiwanese drama before, but I sure as hell don't regret watching it at all! It was so funny and cute, and as the story progressed I became fond of all the characters (including Meizhou, who I had a grudge against due to his hair - a shallow reason, I know). I was so touched of F3's kindness towards Shancai and acceptance as I thought they'd be too arrogant to befriend her. The underlining themes of friendship were great as well, instead of just romance and love triangles.

I'm from the Philippines. Meteor Garden was released in 2003 in our country and it was all the craze back then. F4 everywhere. They even held a concert. It's really a great soap. Hana Yori Dango is currently being shown here, too, though I haven't checked it out yet.

I live in Indonesia. And this drama was aired in 2002 (if I wasn't wrong), and It was loved here in Indonesia. However, I think the sequel was really bad (If not horrible), and I kinda think that the acting wasn't good either. But I still like it.

The funny thing is that right now, Indosiar (The TV channel that aired Meteor Garden)is airing Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers) at the same day and at the same time as MG 5 years ago. And I think the Japanese Version is better...

reply

Yeah, Hana Yori Dango is also being aired here, which is also dubbed as the "original Meteor Garden", since Meteor Garden adapted the story from Hana Yori Dango.

USA. I loved the first one, my friend told us not to watch the second one and her sister said the plot is better in the japanese version, has a more happy ending...but I love the actors from the chinese version....Meteor Garden without Jerry Yan just wouldn't be right.
