Why has nobody played this game?

Of course when I say "nobody" I don't literally mean that no one has ever played this game, but very few people have and considering it was so successful with the critics I find it suprising that more people haven't tried it. I mean, this board seems desserted.

The problem is that it wasn't very well publicised. I myself only discovered this game whilst browsing the games in HMV. It didn't get the advertising that it deserved, unlike less worthy games such as the Grand Theft Auto series.

There's one pretty good reason: Heathens.

It joins the list of amazing games from the past couple of years that have done depressingly bad sales-wise: Ico, Beyond Good and Evil, We Love Katamari, Psychonauts.... all probably due to poor marketing, but I can't help but feel that it also comes down to bad taste. A lot of people seem to dismiss these games as "babyish" because of the cartoony grahics, while they go out to buy the latest licensed EA drivel.

I feel sorry for other gamers. They get pulled in by well-published titles only to find they’re done with them in one weekend. And the replay value is nonexistent. Okami is worth every penny.

Why do people frequently get told to "read the book" on a movie database?

Especially when you found your copy for £14.99 on Play.com! :-D

I think, therefore we have nothing in common.

definetely agree with pink-oracle. Even if you aren't a repeat gamer, this game is worth every penny and MORE.

I have played this 4 times to date, I bought the strategy guide on the 4th time and tried my best to follow along and collect every single bead, but I had some trouble with a side quest or two.

This game is pure perfection. The graphics, soundtrack, story, plotting of the story, the characters, the ambiance, etc. I don't think I will ever play a game that will make me feel the way okami did during gameplay.

For the record, I am not even exaggerating all of this, I am dead serious.

Too bad capcom shut clover down, with all of the crap they put out (not all of it is, but a lot of different street fighters, snks, sequels to previous games).

I fail to see how the graphics are babyish in this game. Okami has without a doubt the most amazing graphics I have seen in any game and are truly unique. The traditional Japanese brush-painting look is unlike any other game graphics out there, not the usual 'babyish' graphics you see in some games.

The answer is simle: the mass lacks taste. You see it in all segments of entertainment. The best television shows, books or movies are seldom the titles with that are picked up by the general public.
