Is there any chance a movie like this will get any wide spread distribution or will it go directly to DVD?

yes, absolutely, the movie is supposed to have a pretty wide domestic and international theatre distribution... can't wait for it to come out.. hopefully they'll do a good job, after all isn't the original one of best movies of all times?
