$70 million dollar budget

That's a lot of money for a film that probably won't do well at the US box office. There's been no ads or press for it that i've seen. Usually my kid informs me of any animated release.

I'm starting to see a few more ads for this, but I've only seen two different ones (that are very similar to each other), and nothing at the theater.

This will be a flop and a disgrace to the WOO legacy. A cash grab that fails to grab cash

reply

I have seen a handful of ads on TV. I also remember seeing a large cardboard cutout at my theater when I saw Rio 2.

reply

Omg! I have seen tons of advertising on Glee and Am Idol and the Voice and my kids see it a lot on Nick channel. I happened to see this movie at the Cannes Film Festival. I it's very well done and respectful to the Oz history. t's going to be the blockbuster of the summer. Between the Oz brand, Lea Michele enormous popularity and all the other stars. Not to mention the great music. Can't wait to see it again and again with the family. Great message about leadership

I agree with your skepticism, but you lost all credibility in my book when you rated that mediocre mess a 9/10.

reply

Only to you I hope, 'cause that movie is one of the best superhero movies. Back to this film, I think the producers have too much money but lack a lot of skills to create a good movie with the same budget.

reply

This is very bad

reply

I think this film could have been done with half the budget and still be bad,

Now that Legends is actually out, and my family got to see it, I can give you an honest, UNPAID opinion.

The kids (5 to 14) LOVED IT! It's a true musical, very fun and entertaining. We saw it in 3D, which was done very well, not dizzying. The kids have been humming the music all day and reciting many of the catchy lines, particularly from the Jester, who is played by Martin Short... he gave a stellar performance!

The animation was better than I expected (given that it's not Pixar or Dreamworks), especially all the great detail in Oz. Though the kids didn't seem to notice, the animation was lacking during the Kansas scenes, particularly with the humans. Aunt Em & Uncle Henry were a little stiff. Fortunately, these scenes are few & far between. There are so many positive messages in this movie, which kids and grown ups could definitely benefit from!

To sum it up... Legends of Oz is a great, clean, fun & entertaining movie that will leave you and your family feeling good!

$100 million budget. $9 mil worldwide gross. It appears the producers were took the budget money and ran. http://www.thewrap.com/legends-of-oz-box-office-flop-investors/

$70 million budget??? Really? The animation looks like so cheap I mean...Look at that Disney planes movies only costs $50 million and the animation looks way better than this crap.

reply

I came in to say the same thing. I watched the film, and while it was mediocre at best, I figured they probably didn't do too bad at the box office. So I came here and checked the stats. "Oh, they only made a few million. Well, it couldn't have been... $70 MILLION BUDGET?! WHERE?!"

Seriously. Ouch!

That is what the DA's of several states would like to know, since the producers of this film are being investigated for fraud in several states.
