Enough with the CGI animation!!! It doesn't make you 'more relavant'!!!
I am so tired of every single animated movie being done in entirely with CGI animation... Studio's seem to be under the false assumption that CGI animation makes a movie "more relevant" and "trendy" for today's children. While some films it makes since, this one it doesn't... A film about Oz should feel timeless... You can still use the computer to aid and enhance the hand drawn 2D animation, but sorry when I see images and clips from this movie (and many others of it's kind), I feel like I am being smacked in the face by a computer.
Kid's still like traditional animation... the most popular Disney films are STILL the old traditional Princess/Fairy Tale films (Princess in the Frog failed because of horrible music and a really bizarre decision to make Tiana a poorly rendered frog for the bulk of the film... it was not the medium's fault). Sure there have been success story's with CG animation (Toy Story, Wall-E, etc.), but those stories lent themselves to the technology (talking action figures/toys and a robot)... other stories DO NOT!
