One of the worst things I've ever seen...

... and I only sat through 16 minutes and 14 seconds! Yes, it was so excruciating that I counted every second that I restrained myself from hitting the stop button. Anyone who actually sat through this piece of garbage, I salute you because I'm pretty sure they could show this to suspected terror suspects to get all the info they need.

I have to agree. I'm all for criticisms of the bush administration, but just because you're doing that does not make your movie an enjoyable experience, clever, or funny. The plot made little to no sense, I didn't care about any of the characters, and the dialogue was just bad most of the time. There were one or two moments that made me laugh or think "that was a good line" but that's all that saves this movie from getting a straight up rating of 1.
For a much better parody of the bush administration that is actually creative and interesting, try watching "Southland Tales.

reply

Well you didn't really see it then did you?

It's far from the best movie ever but it's also far from the worst movie ever. Refrain from calling something you didn't see a "piece of garbage". After all maybe afterwards it all got better?
I've seen movies with bad beginnings surprise me completely. Also seen the opposite.

I've seen movies with bad beginnings surprise me completely.
Although I wouldn't say that's never happened with me, I sure can't remember it happening, and I've seen many thousands of films in my life so far. I thought War Inc. had loads of problems in the beginning, and by the end, I thought it was worse. For me, it was another Southland Tales or I Heart Huckabee, both of which I hated.

It didn't get better, it got WORSE!

Great cast but a stupid, boring, ham handed attempt at satire!

Absolutely sucked!

reply

I agree.

I can't believe that a good actor like Cusack played in this piece of utter crap which is not funny, not satirical, not political...in fact it is nothing. It is a horribly acted (apart from Cusack and Tomei) - even Kingsley was horrible - , has an incredibly stupid plot, is not even screwball (that can sometimes be funny though i do not particularly like that kind of humor), it has no subtle criticism - the jokes and criticism of US politics is so outright and obvious that it is no fun at all....man it is just a really really really lousy movie.

The editing is bad. The screenplay is extremely far-fetched, boring, brainless and boring (again). This movie is an insult. It insults even the intellectual capacity of a monkey.

Really, do yourself a huge favor and do not watch this. Man, the screenwriters and director must be incredibly stupid people.

I really wonder how they got money for this from any source - it must have been the cast that drew the bucks.

reply

oh by the way, if you're looking for a more funny, sort of screwball satire which, though only partially, could be compared to 'war inc' but is at least a bit better: 'Onion Movie'. It wasn't too bad really.

reply

Try watching The Spirit it is terrible and excruciating and you will turn it off within 9 minutes. The Spirit is so bad it makes Snakes on a Plane seem like a masterpiece.

reply

I watched the entire film and it was pure garbage. I wanted to tear my eyeballs out. If I had been alone while watching it, I would have shut it off. With the exception of his lame romantic comedies, I like John Cusack. I absolutely hated 'War, Inc'. It was not clever, it was merely a very weak attempt at satire. Honestly I think the only people who will appreciate this film are left-wing radicals who feel it is their responsibility to back anything that is anti-Bush and anti-war.
Don't get me wrong. I'm wasn't a fan of Bush, but that doesn't mean I have to like this film.

reply

Well Woodrow... I'm not a left wing radical and I did enjoy the movie , even if it was silly... now what ?

reply

16 minutes is quite long. I didn't make it through more than 10. I might take a better turn but time is always short so I'm going for another movie.
Perhaps I need a humor refuel though, but I didn't find the first 10 mins funny at all.

Loved it, very funny movie. Clever jokes, loved the satire, clever dialogue and Dan Akroyd was great as always. Then again I'm not a redneck yank so that might help me with having a actual sense of humor and freedom of mind... lol

reply

The fact that you consider all "yanks" to be "rednecks," (actually a contradiction if you know what the terms even mean) or that they all even hold the same views, shows that "freedom of mind" is exactly what you do NOT have.

reply

The fact that you think he considers all yanks to be rednecks indicates that you have a comprehension problem. Is English your first language?

BTW, I have met hundreds of redneck yanks. You don't have to be a southerner to be a redneck.

Actually it's you who don't know what the terms mean. You seem to think the poster is using the word "Yankee", when they are using the word "Yank."

"Yank" slang term for any American (northern OR southern US), used often in England, and obviously used in this way in the post.

"Yankee" slang term for American from northern US, used by Americans in the southern US.

Even if you were right, there are plenty of redneck YankEEs. Double-Fail..

I agree with chatfan. I don't understand why some people on this thread are linking this movie to former President NON-elect GW Bush? Bush/Blair/Howard were all following the instructions of the Illuminati that controls the world - Read your David Icke. About this movie, it was funny and it had some depth and clever enough writing without being up itself or over the top. Maybe it's lost in translation on Amerikan audiences, a bit too close to the truth and all that. One thing I liked was the fight scene was so down to earth. It was like an extension of the very real moment Hauser had when he didn't drink the hot sauce and he talked about his wife and daughter. It wasn't a wire fighting load of rubbish that we typically see now days. One thing I didn't quite like was that I had her pegged as the daughter as soon as he threw up. It was too obvious for my liking however it did have great comic effect and set up the botched assassination scene where the dry cleaning is delivered. Absolutely classic stuff.

reply

Although I didn't think it was a good movie I have to say that you are really, REALLY overreacting. If you call this a bad movie then you have obviously not seen too many movies let alone bad ones. This was not a good movie but it was still amusing and very watchable.

reply

If you can make it through the first 25/30 minutes (which I almost didn't in spite of how much really like Cusack) its not that bad. No masterpiece or anything but not that bad....

reply

I disagree. I kept watching - hoping it would get better - but most of it was painfully awful (especially the parts with Hillary Duff.)

Wish I had turned it off after 16 minutes like the original poster; kudos to him/her.

The ONLY redemption for my efforts was Joan Cusak's performance, which had me laughing out loud a few times.

In my opinion this deserved to go straight to DVD.

It was definitely the weirdest movie I've ever seen! There were some brilliant jokes in it like the tanks with the ads or the hip hop "Saudi guys" or with the sex tape thing. The film actually has a great message, but the dialogues were just bad. After the journalist got taken hostage or what ever it was I lost interest, then I only fast forwarded it to see how it ends. It started good of but somewhere mid film it became really bad.
