cusack's fighting

cusack has obviously been well trained in movie fighting and I felt that there was very little in the way of unbelievable moves or editing to make him look better than he is.
I think there were good choices to try to keep it real.
the hand to hand stuff looked real to me. like when one bad guy hits the gun in cusack's hand and it hurt!
I enjoyed the fighting scenes more than the rest of the movie.
I hope he does another, more realistic, action movie.
I also enjoyed Kingsley's character choices.
I've never liked Duff and once I began to suspect it was her I kept hoping it wasn't her but at the same time I was admiring her not pulling any 'teen diva' crap. Good commitment to character.
I, too, was put off by some of the film's overthetop satire choices but do not regret renting it.

He's an avid kickboxer in real life.

I daresay the fighting in this movie was better choreographed, performed and especially shot than in any of the Bourne films. Cusack is a stone-cold bad-ass in both this and Grosse Pointe Blank. He needs to do more action stuff like this.

I'm also surprised we don't see Cusack fight in more films...he's been kickboxing for over 20 years. And the only three movies that I can think of where he uses it are this, Grosse Point Blank, and Say Anything.

Cusack's combat stance and body movement was very natural and fluid... it's obvious that he has been training for a long time. His stonewall defense was pretty damn good, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's trained in judo. I was blown away by the fight scene near the end.

remember...."kickboxing...sport of the future!"

I couldn't hear my own footsteps. It was the walk of a dead man.

Cusak has trained for years under Benny Urquidez, one of the best compettition kickboxers of all time. As I understand it, it's really more of a hobby for him than it is a showmanship skill, so that explains why we don't see it from him too much, but regardless, in the few fight scenes I've ever seen him in, Cusak moves very well. Props to him.

Thats why the fight scenes in Gross Pointe Blank were so good. Benny was the hit man in the 7-11 and the school he was fighting with.

Fanboys just make me laugh at thier sad pitifulness

Really? Benny the Jet? I did not know that!

SWEET! I didn't realize that! Gotta go back and watch that flick again now!

Agree with everyone, Cusack clearly has some skills, seemed even better in this flick than I remember..

I was pretty surprised at how good the fight scenes were in this one as well. Some of the better done sequences I've seen actually.

Not the best movie overall, but I didn't feel like it was a total waste of time either.

Glad I'm not the only one that really enjoys Cusack's fighting. His fight scenes in Grosse Point Blank and this (while I've seen them be critisized by moronic action fans) were very realistic, considering the circumstances. Cusack fights like a man who has fought, and been hit, and had to improvise with your ears ringing, eyes filling up with tears, blood and sweat, and your world moving too quickly to think.

I loved the Bourne fight scenes, but Cusack really trained in Kickboxing and most likely still does, from the looks of it. He does the hitman role extremely well and would do good in more like them.

I'd like to see him do a martial arts type flick too, maybe one similiar in tone and style to Redbelt. But more cohesive.

Watch "Grosse Point Blanc", it has lots of action but also great comedy, suspense and even a non-annoying love story. And his fights are not only as well is the ones in War Inc, he has also one fight against Benny Urquidez (the best fight in that movie).

His fight scene was the best scene in the whole movie IMO. I can't believe he hasn't done more roles where he incorporates his skills. Hopefully he will in the future.
