Just beat it now after about two hours trying. You have to use sixaxis like an airplane to land your rounds. Had a hell of a time beating the time limit.
shareYou can turn off the sixaxis in the options menu. It is much easier to control with the joystick. I figured this out, because I could not beat it with the sixaxis control.
shareOMG, hell yeah! The catapults and the arrow shooting were hard as $%^&! But I got the hang of it. And once I got the hang of it, I had to concentrate on getting it done fast. Many people have said to turn of the SIXAXIS feature, but it sorta is fun using 6AXIS when you're not frustrated by not getting the shots right.
shareI figured it out pretty quick and I rather enjoy doing it...I think being Kai was fustrating at first with having only the bow and arrow as defense but now I love it, Im constantly going back and playing her chapter!
share3 times finally beat it. It sucks, but the arrow thing in the next chapters are more fun. I use the motion thing. But the catapult thing sucks.

The catapults were hard but I actually found the arrow shooting (in the protect Shen level) quite entertaining! :D

i never used the sixaxis once in that level (except to try it out the first time) i just aimed and shot... then aimed a little higher or lower the next time. and you spent 2 hrs on that. thats madness

^ I knew how to do that the first time it was explained to me in the game. It's just that I didn't do it well. =p My ten-year-old cousin, however, who had never used the SIXAXIS controller before in his life, beat the level on his first try. Lucky bastard. J/k, he's friggin' amazing.

At the beginning I had a bit of trouble getting used to it, but after awhile, it became so fun & easy that i had no trouble with the catapults. SOOO much fun!!!
shareBeing Kai sucks when you have enemies at close distance. If you are lucky enough and the terrain is right you can usually get them to run at you in a straight line and that makes it easy. However, killing the guys that you have to hit in the head was hell.

Also, the long distance shooting with the sixaxis is fun once you get the hang of it. On the Shen level I just experimented on where I could hit the people, my cousin and I were cracking up becuase I got people in between their ass cheeks, their balls, right in the middle of their heads etc

everyone I see playing this game at my house try too hard. they stand up and lift the controller above their head and stuff, it's like watching retards learn to drive cars.
literally u only move the pad an inch, and thats enough, small increments is all it takes.
The first time I played I didn't even know about holding square (ignorance), but once I got the feel it became supa-fun! And Shen's Escape is a great way to entertain for me, and it's entertaining (for me) spending an hour watching people go "OOOOOOOOHHHHH!!!!! Did you see that?! Flog him!! Don't shoot the old man again!!!"

Your post is super old but I'll add my 2 cents anyway...
With the sixaxis it was damn impossible but with the stick, it's much easier...as long as your stick isn't worn out like mine! There's no way in hell you can do any of the shooting missions without using the "after touch", which is holding down the square while guiding the cannonballs or Kai's arrows with the left stick. Especially on the Dawn Siege mission in Hell mode because you only have about half the time than you do in Normal mode...
