He eats all these live insects and raw fish and its just not safe. His bowel must be infested with parasites and god knows what else

Just guessing, but maybe he loads up on antibiotics. Anyway, can't any parasite be killed with the right drug? And forget the raw fish, elephant dung and eating food out of bear scat seems pretty chancy...

Wouldn't it depend on the fish, and the preparation of them? The Japanese spend their life eating raw fish, and aren't particularly known for having brain parasites.

many bugs are resistant or the eggs are so resilient and are able to pass and then hatch in the gut

He's gotten food poisoning a couple times as you saw on the show, but I assure you if what he did was bad he wouldn't do it.

People eat raw fish all the time, it's called sushi you *beep*

Aren't fresh water fish always safe to eat raw? There are some things that are OK to eat raw, other things have to be cooked. I know rabbit has to be cooked - how about snake? Turtle, mussels, snails were cooked - but clams seemed to be OK. You have to know what's safe to eat raw, which is where parasite infestation comes in, and as he seems to know, I think the chances are low. I'd be more concerned about water, which can make you really sick. Some 'wild water' filtered through rocks or mud seems safe, other water has to be boiled first.

This is just a wild guess on my part, but - doesn't anyone think Bear would get physicals and checkups and take anti-parasite remedies and antibiotics, if need be, after one of his little outings?

I agree, he must have ingested a lot of bacteria and parasites. Insects should be cooked before eating to kill the parasites. Water should always be boiled. He has said he's gotten sick a few times, i imagine they take some good antibiotics with them and I reckon they test his stool for parasites after each show.
