Worried About Competition with Red Cliff

i was happy when i heard about the red cliff movie, but this too?! jeeze idk whether to be happy or worried. as history has shown us similar movies that compete usually end with one being terrible if not both.

Deep Impact vs Armageddon
Antz vs A Bugs Life
Madagascar vs The Wild
Aeon Flux vs Ultra Violet

list goes on
im hoping that both Three Kingdoms and Red Cliff will fare very well at the box office and be good enough to join the top 250

I read the book back in high school and have been a long time fan of the games. the games drifted off from the book in alot of ways just in order to make an entertaining game.

My question is, does anyone think the competition between these two films will dilute the plot and possibly create too many differences from the novel?

I'm definitely hoping neither project is rushed to beat the other to the screen.

The attention on Red Cliff is more the story, the characters besides Zhou Yu and ZhuGe Liang will be secondary. But this one is concentrating on ZhaoYun's life and his affair with CaoYing so should be pretty different. I get the impression (and from the promotional stuff already out on it) that this one is gonna be fancy where as Red Cliff is going to be more realistic in its appearance. Kinda hoping it is gonna be like comparing MoGik with Musa. Well maybe not as fancy as MoGik.. SevenSwords maybe?
