Timeline

I'm hoping for the rest of the cast to be announced in February although I'm sure the producers already know. I'd also like to know whose point of view the story will be told from. As I see it, there can only be so many choices.

Three Brothers - The ultimately tragic tale of friendship and heroism.

T'sao T'sao - The tale of usurping a nation.

Liu Pei - The story of ideals vs. passion.

Chuko Liang - The story of military genius, faith, and honor.

I don't see Wu's story being powerful enough. Some things can already be told from the cast they've posted. Zhou Yu's presence indicates that they must at least go as far back as Chuko's three visitations and the butt-whupping of T'sao. We have to be honest though. If this story goes back as far as the Yellow Turbans, it will be an 18 hour movie. I'd sit through that, but would anyone else.

I'll speculate further as more things develope. Production is set to start in March so I expect more information to be up soon.

P.S.

Almost done with the unabridged novel. Chiang Wei is way cool, but Ssuma I is scary smart. I just want the full assortment of characters to be there, from Huang Gai and Huang Chung to Wei Yen and Gan Ning.

Must be about Lui bei. it stands to reason they'll do his side, because it has the more dramatic way. even the book which said that Wei had done the best, Gave the 3 brothers a very high praise even though they were actually losers by being conquered by Wei/ JIN.

Says MonkeyPeaches.com:

"The story of the movie is set in the final days of Shu kingdom. Emperor Liu Bei and his sworn brothers Guan Yu and Zhang Fei (to be played by Sammo Hung) have passed away. Zhao Yun, who is already over 80, is commanding the final battle against Wei. A series of flashbacks will show Zhao Yun’s glorious stories in the past six decades and a secret love affair with war lord Cao Cao’s daughter Cao Ying (a fictional character specifically created for Maggie Q)."

That is an excellent way of doing things. I will say that Zhao Yun is dead long before the kingdom of Shu is in jeopardy of falling, in fact the kingdom of Shu sort of falls in the blink of an eye much later. Also Zhao Yun doesn't command the campaign against Wei, he follows the command of Zhuge Liang (Kung Ming). If the movie took place at the end of Shu, the only recogniseable (KOEI) hero is Chiang Wei. "DANG YOU LIU CHAN!!!" It remains an excellent point of view to hold and encomass a good deal of the story. You also get to have the sequence of Zhao Yun escaping an entire troop of Cao Cao alone in order to rescue Liu Bei's son. My ultimate hope is that the movie takes place during the first Wei campaign of Zhuge Liang. The first half can be flashback and then the second half could be elderly Zhao Yun kicking butt Huang Zhong style. I would hope for an appearence of Zhang Bao and Kuan Hsing taking up their fathers' places. I'm sure they'll alter history, but I thought I'd put my thoughts out their.

damn, the last days aren't all that much interesting. I would much rather see the three kingdoms battling it out after chi bi, battles such as mt. ding Jun, fan castle, he fei castle, wu zhang plains etc. would have been brilliant to watch.
