Question about the armour.

Sorry, I have no knowledge of ancient Chinese history but I noticed some of the armour looked like Japanese samurai style armour, not exactly but similar. I was wondering if this was an early Chinese armour style that was later adopted by the Japanese (much like the tang sword and other weapons) or did they just wear this style armour solely for cosmetics for this movie? I have sorta noticed in other Chinese historical dramas sometimes they wear Samurai style armour. The plots usually take place during the earlier Chinese dynasties or warring states periods. Thanks.

the 3 kingdom period was way before the japs ever had armours. they look really funny in the movie, since they are very different from people's perceptions. the production team seems to have done a lot of researches on the armours, but they probably are not exactly what they were back then, since there is no records.

i guess the jap armours were more popular outside of asia due to the propagandas from hollywood movies. and the jap armours do receive major influence from ancient China.
