Should not be associated with the series

I know this is nothing new for these message boards but i just watched the trailer and this movie looks ATROCIOUS and NOTHING even remotely close to the series. The horrible miscasting aside I feel like whoever made this movie used the Alice series as an advertising ploy to sell more copies of another Disney-fied mediocre movie. ALICE SINGS! ALICE CAN'T SING! ughhhhh. i've been a fan of these books for 9 years, still read the new ones, and to see this movie associated with the series makes me incredibly frustrated. I'm sure all those Disney obsessed preteens will like it, but there should be no association between the two -- there are too many REAL fans out there. Just give the characters in this movie different names, and if you want to make an Alice movie, do it right.

Well I agree that they pretty much butchered the series but I'm watching it now and it's not as bad, or rather I'm not hating it as much as I thought I would. I agree about the Disney thing but I should make it clear that Alison can't sing in the movie. She just dreams/thinks she can. I have to say I wasn't a faithful reader of the series, only read a few. But Reluctantly Alice was my favorite book at one point and you should see what they did with Lester's two girlfriend's storyline. Which by the way, what is it doing in this movie? I wonder how many other books they used. This movie is definitely less mature than the books.

right? and the maturity is what made those books so great.

also... i'm confused as to why pamela is such a mean girl bully. i remember her as being crazy but not such a bitch-in-training... weird!
