What a MORBID Film! *spoilers*

Just got done watching this film. Besides the dopey animation, I found myself being pretty surprised at how nasty and morbid this film is - especially in comparison to the fluffy and silly series.

First Franklin's great-grandparents die in a fire. Then Granny gets a terminal illness. Later Snail gets kidnapped and almost eaten by the baby falcons.

I wonder how many children watched this film and were traumatized for life? The freakish animation alone would be enough to send me into a catatonic state.

I have a broad taste - brilliant taste - in films, I think.

I have to agree it was a lot darker than the rest of the series. I recently came across a copy of the first movie, and having never seen the movies back when I was a kid wanted to not only watch them all but also rewatch the series. And compared to the rest of the series I was surprised by this movie. I wasn't 'entirely' bothered by the voice change (having grown up with shows like Pokemon I am used to things like that) but it was weird seeing how much the animation and tone changed with this movie. I actually teared up a bit in this one, so I can only imagine how a kid might take it after the rest of the series being so... light and fluffy?
Of the 4 movies though (Franklin and the Green Knight, Franklin's Magic Christmas, Back to School With Franklin, and this one) I have to say I think this one was my favorite. Sure it is darker than the rest, but it introduced some of my favorite characters. (I really liked Sam and Little Crow).
