Any kittens harmed in the making?

Usually when I see "no animals were harmed in the making of this film" it doesn't occur to me that the most expedient way to make the film was to somehow cause harm to the animals who appeared in it. But from the beginning of the movie I was looking forward to the end where I expected to see it. I didn't! Ugh! Did I miss it?

reply

I am sure there were no animals harmed in the making of the film, at least I hope not. I hate movies where animals die or get hurt. I just started watching this now (it's on Lifetime) but I didn't understand what happened to the kitten in the beginning? I saw them put milk out and then shine the light on the kitten?

I sometimes don't read the bottom of posts because I think it's a signature.

reply

They why ask??? Don't you think ignorance is bliss here??!! Fortunately, they abstracted the hell out of it, unlike the human deaths, which were very vivid and drawn out (albeit, highly underplayed).

There is a graphic scene where a cat is shown dying on a glue mat. What these complainers don't understand, is human beings can defend themselves, kittens cannot. I have reported this film to PETA for it's gratuitous and unnecessary animal torture scene. If you would be offended watching a human baby starve to death in a horror film, why would you not see that showing a kitten starving to death, even alluding to it, is the same damn thing.

Angus, I've been angry about the prevalance of cat deaths in horror films. Fortunately, seems the only people who reference cat deaths in horror films are hacks. Really horror film writers with actual talent, don't need to resort to such cheap and sick gimmickry. I suggest you do not watch Untraceable. They go into how the man's kitten was stolen, and then they see it on the internet I believe. I had to turn of the film before I saw the scene in question, because I was so upset.

Imagine if they instead showed a child being kidnapped, oh wait, remember Fear Dot Com? Yeah, that move was said to be so horrible, but it's okay if a kitten is tortured. Nobody has a bloody problem with that! Alright, now I'm just ranting and raving here.

reply

I agree with you, totally. I changed channel and watched something else :)

reply

Right. You're ranting & raving.

reply

I agree too

PETA Who bomb research labs who the founder is diabetic and uses a drug that she claims to be against? Yeah they are real cool.

Get the *beep* over it. Animals die end of story. It was under played. you see the kitten maybe once where it's actually in pain. You can tell that it's not a real cat except for the very first scene when it's in the cage. It isn't slowely starving to death, its under a heat lamp. Yeah it's cruel but it isn't real. There are worse things going on in the world than a fake kitten dying in a scene that was abstract at best.

Sorry I don't cry over a fake cat, I'd much rather cry about the REAL innocent human beings being slaughtered, starved and mutilated allover the REAL world.

1. "Gratuitous and unnecessary"? In the context of the story, the murderer would have wanted to make sure his method was sound, and to create enough "buzz" about his site so that enough people would know it existed by the time he got his first human victim. Seems pretty necessary to me.
2. You called PETA to complain about a scene in a movie which in reality more or less amounted to a cat doing a couple of the tricks he's been trained to do, probably getting a couple of his favorite kitty treats, then going home? And yet you remained totally unmoved by the even nastier (but equally fake) human deaths that followed? I think you might want to give your moral compass a good cleaning/oiling. I suspect PETA has enough to do dealing with things like horses lying in stalls full of their own filth, unable to stand because their hooves have rotted completely away. Or dogs whose facial features can't be seen underneath the rows of engorged ticks. I find it hard to imagine even PETA getting terribly worked up over a pampered movie cat having a normal day at work.

You are honestly just another idiotic users over here, and I don't really care how old your comment is. You put similar sort of tones all over the message boards for this movie and its all definitely another mumbling of the fool. I've just saw a dead cat being ran over by the side of the road. Please prosecute the driver of the one that killed it, would you?

reply

I cannot believe you made some such an inane response to a question.

Now I remember, I hated that part! I can't stan animal abuse, nor child abuse, nor eldery abuse, even if it's fake. I have no problem with healthy adults fake killing.

I just looked other way, and thought about changing the channel, but I wanted to see the film. Poor writing indeed.

I don't think filmmakers were so stupid to actually hurt real kittens. Not in actual times, there are laws against it, and cheaper ways to make those scenes.

Please excuse my terrible redaction, english is not my native language.

reply

Why don't you just stick with Disney movies?

reply

There is no healthy adults getting hurt on Disney, as far as I can remember...

You're kidding, right? Off the top of my head, Snow White took a bite of a poison apple. 

Then perhaps, avoid watching any movies like this at all? Investigate the content of the movie that you're decide to watch before you go around throwing names and insults just because they are showing the murder of a fake cat in a movie.

reply

I can't believe people think this was real lol

reply

I know. There would be a public outcry over it if it was real.

reply

Is that so? Then, why there's no public outcry whenever countless trees out there are mowed down and wild animals get killed/faced extinction due to deforestation and had their habitats destroyed? It is the same as hurting animals on a film set in my opinion.

reply

Ugh I hated that scene. It's sick that people do enjoy killing and torturing innocent animals IRL. I'm not a Peta member but I do like animals.

This film is sick with it's depiction of animal cruelty!
It's not the only one, unfortunately. Regardless if any animals were hurt or not in the making of this movie (which I already know none were harmed at all, in fact real animals might not have been used), it's still painfully clear that the poor cat is tortured and killed. It's enough to make me not to want to see this film ever. I've only seen 2 minutes of it, just because someone else wanted to see it.

I'm sure PETA is against movies like this being made. I certainly am.

Dissolving guy in acid: OK
Scorching guy with lamps: Fine
Bleeding guy to death: Meh
Killing a god damn cat: Epiphany of evil.

You people are hypocrites or insane.
You value a god damn cats life more than human?

I do love animals but that is *beep* up way of thinking.

Like in case of Cecil The Lion poor Mufasa wannabe is killed it's bad lets lynch the guy. People starving in Zimbabwe no one bats an eye.

I get it internet *beep* rainbows when they see these little penile spined animals but come on start thinking sometimes about your own species.

reply

This. I'll see fuxking dead animals being splat on the roadside rammed by various kind of vehicles almost every day and yet, no people is going all Rambo on such *beep* Human's life can't be compared against animal because they had no mind to think for, living by the instinct. No wonder everyone logged the fuxk in during the human killing scene. We as a species fuxcking hate one another.

reply

I'm not even sure how the kitten died in the movie. Was it the heat lamp or starvation?

Poorly Lived and Poorly Died, Poorly Buried and No One Cried

reply

Yes. They totally killed the cat. They also beheaded a condor, off set and left a couple of dolphins on the hot, asphalt of the parking lot.
