Is buddy Clarence's biological son or is he his step son?

I don't remember it being specified. My guess is step son. Since Clarence and whatshername got married only 9 yrs earlier. And Buddy was obviously closer to 20. Also, when Buddy needed a kidney, Clarence said that they had the same blood type. Kind of just an odd exchange if they were biologically related.
