Potential inspiration for new Mario anime?

Of course, chances of this happening are really slim but I'd really love to see a new Nintendo-licensed Mario anime at any point, seeing as anime's becoming more marketable in the West anyway thanks to more major releases on DVD and even in cinemas so it would be likely for a new Mario anime movie to be distributed all over the world, seeing as the Mario series is pretty much the most popular video gaming series of all time so I'll just go ahead and explain some really nice ideas related to "Super Mario Galaxy".

I'd really love to see a official Nintendo-licensed anime movie based on "Super Mario Galaxy", produced by a major Japanese animation studio and released theatrically worldwide (Producion I.G. is a good bet, as they have done the cut-scenes for "Warioland: The Shake Dimension").

I know what you're thinking, there's already a similar thread to this, talking over the idea of a CGI movie based on this instead of anime. But I think that the movie, if made an anime movie, should be a fusion of 2D digitally-coloured animation (like what you see on the most recent of anime titles) and of CGI. There are some very nice ways of blending the two formats together very well and in anime, that's showcased in titles like "Howl's Moving Castle", "Ghost in the Shell" and even "Kirby: Right Back at Ya!" so it would work just as well for "Super Mario Galaxy" and if done just right, may offer something truly stunning.

And if a full-length theatrical movie can't be made, a TV series of a similar budget would be nice too. And in my opinion, a really nice addition to all this would also be a one-shot OVA or an animated short from the same production team of the main "Super Mario Galaxy" anime based on Rosalina's storybook. That would make a really nice spin-off to go with the main anime.

That's just my opinions anyway. How would you feel if something like this would be made? Are you up for there finally being a new Mario anime after over 20 years, or any Mario animation at all?

This calls for a discussion! ;)

I wouldn't be totally opposed to it. As far as a movie/series, I think anime may be the best way to approach it...so yeah, I'd be good with what you said.

I enjoyed the old Mario cartoons, especially the ones based off of Super Mario World. I don't know if today's kids would go for something like that but it'd be cool if Nintendo tried it anyway. A 12-15 episode anime series could be good.

I would be all for it. From what I saw of the Kirby anime, it was quite good so I'm hoping they do that with Mario.

Nintendo needs to get revenge on SEGA from creating Sonic X!!
