Man, why does Japan do this? (spoilers)

I tried to write a user comment about how bad this movie was, but it didn't pass.
Basically, I wanted to point out how a movie like this comes close to crappiness as the 'Yokai Daisensou' by Takahashi Miike. I wouldn't have been surprised if he had some hand in making 'Gegege'. As another poster put it, 'it's just another Talento vehicle' in which you get all of the lame talents from late night TV and find some way to plug them into a movie. More time should have been spent on plot development than where they should put Takenaka Naoto or god aweful Toshiyuki Nishida (please tell that man to stop making Tsuribaka Nisshi movies!!!)

Here's what could've helped:

- Main important point - This movie was made for kids and not for the fans. I was highly disappointed by this in that there are certainly more older fans who know about 'Gegege'. To make a kiddy movie was an insult and a pain to watch for an hour and a half.

- Give Gegege Kitaro a love interest. Things were going fine with the boy's sister, but seeing as how she's human and him a monster, it not working out was understandable. There should have been more of him trying to get with Neko-musume after he knew it wouldn't work out.

- What a crappy dance ending - Oh God! Why, why, why!!! Wintz and Rena seemed to not enjoy doing the final dance number at the end. I was hoping Rena would do something sexy with the Nekomusume cat dance, but I was highly disappointed.

So in short, this is another would have been another potential good movie, but FAILED. Guess I'll have to wait another 20 years for something better if they remake it....

Luckily, I felt better when I watched Dororo. Now that's a good fantasy movie.

Man, why do racists do this? How does this film reflect on Japan (the people? its politicians? whom or what?)

LOL Priceless :)

I completely agree with you. But I thought Nodame Cantabile, and GTO (just the drama, sans the SP and Movie) were tastefully done.

+1 to Gravewalker's... couldn't say it any better.

Death Note adaptations were good, at least in my opinion. And I agree, "Wapanese" are annoying as hell. I myself being part Japanese [and living in Japan] don't see anything "racist" about that review.

death note adaptation good?...god!!...you are insane XDD

Im sorry but the anime this is based on is not that great to begin with. It just one of the early ones that pioneered the genre. From what i have seen of the anime, this live action adaption wasnt bad, and if you have never seen it at all its still a fairly decent asian-fantasy styled movie.

And yes the GTO live action kicks ass.
