Favourite crew member?

my fav has always been RO, no matter how uptight he seemed in the first series, i knew there would be more to him. and after last night's ep - he's definitely my number 1!

i'm really liking bomber too, she seems pretty cool

how bout you guys?

RO and Bomber are my favourites too. I think his acting was at its best in Precious Cargo, when his father dies. Also, I really relate to him, as an introverted social recluse.

Bomber's being developed as a character more than Chefo ever was. Josh was a reasonably good actor, but the character didn't go anywhere. If only the first season had ended with him getting married and retiring, as opposed to pulling a Chuck Cunningham.

Kate and, to a lesser extent, Mike, are good characters but Lisa and Ian are a bit wooden. Lisa's getting better though, back to her Blue Heelers standard.

Jay is a good actor but Spider bores me a lot. Hopefully his relationship with Carly will go somewhere. John can also act but I'm disappointed that they haven't further explored his post-traumatic stress disorder that he showed signs of in Fortune Favours.

Buffer has pretty much nothing going for him, I could do without him. Matthew and David are better than the average.

And finally, Saskia: not as wooden as Lisa, but I have doubts about her ability to handle one of her upcoming storylines.

Fave is Spider. I love the under-dog and loved how hard he worked Season 1 on becoming one of the guys. He's goofy, loyal and endearing. However that said, season 2 wasn't his season at all. He didn't get any substantial episodes nor storylines. In the episode featuring Bomber's 21st, I realise it was one of Bomber's episodes yet he was integral player in that. Nearly drowned, hit in the face, bashed up and left unconcious on board. But all we got in the end was a quick glance, him with a towel held to his head - typical goofy look. No real emotional or dramatic payout. No aftermath whatsoever. Forget even the simple stuff like injuries, post traumatic shock or a nice end scene with Bomber after their bonding experience. Then there's Carly - that led nowhere. It could have been a nice twist, a story arc there somewhere during the last 2 episodes when it became apparent that Ray was the baddie. Yet we once again got nothing. There was no development to his character at all during season 2 and frankly he came off as a bit of an immature jerk. If I hadn't tuned in in season 1, I doubt I'd be a Spider fan. We had a few nice scenes with his mentor Buffer (I adore the Buffer/Spider realtionship) - that's it.

I am loving Bomber which is surprising. I dislike newbies and especially hate character replacements (comsidering she replaced Chefo). It's rare that these new characters endear themselves to me. But like Ziva on NCIS (who replaced agent Kate after 2 seasons), she did. She's great, they did well with her. Though as someone mentioned, she got a lot of character development this series, and this ultimately would have been at the expense of the other established characters (like my fave Spider). Still, no bad will coming from me. I'd love to see her and Spider bond further next season as they have great chemistry and being the youngest, they have a lot in common (though this does no mean I want them to necessarily hook-up. I'm not against it but at the same time I'd hate this show to turn into a soap opera. Best buds, possible URST is what I'd like).

Have loved Buffer from the get go. I think I'm biased actor wise as I tend to be a fan of the actors I've liked on previous engagements such as Jay Ryan and Jeremy Lindsay Taylor. But who wouldn't like Buffer. He's the hero, he's hard-working and deep down under that tough shell, a softie. I adore how he is with Spider! The last couple of episodes were great for his character development, he was tough and vulnerable at the same time.

And I like XO. I think she's a bit wooden (glad to see I'm not the only one coming to these boards). But characterwise, she's something different to this crew. They need a bit of caring and softness (without veering into fluff) and she's been another under-dog since the start. I have loved seeing her prove herself. A bit over her and Mike though.

As it is I really don't disllike any of the rest of them. They're a great cast of characters. The Nav is a bit bland and seems only personable (heck human) around ET. But other than that, that's it. They're a great bunch!

I am going to be boring and say that Mike is my favourite! =D Apart from being very easy on the eyes, the character is one of the nicest characters on the ship. Also, a very decent leader with more good decisions than bad...ridiculously accurate hunches aside...

(still, easy on the eyes)

I love ET or loved since he went off to ER :(

Gotta be 'Bomber' for me! By far the most natural beauty of the 3 females on board. XO does nothing for me & Nav looks as though she should still be in 6th form!

By the way - why does everyone else have their name and 'trade/discipline emblem' on their left breast but Nav only has her name?

Buffer, like a few CPO's I sailed with. Steady fair, and will buy a round.

It's because she's an officer and while ratings have branch badges, officers don't.
Whit sad old loser'd be thick enough to don thon get-up?

Definitely Buffer. Strong, brave, kind, loyal and oh so HOT

Bomber is by far the hottest woman they have had on the show
The nav was cute but Bomber oozes sex appeal.
Josh Holiday was my favourite on the show. Was glad to see him get the main role in the Cape, pity it didn't take off. I liked it

Josh ET Holiday and Nikki Nav Caetano. Favorite characters and favorite couple. I seriously miss them. They are the main reason I got so addicted to this show. ET's death and Nav's grief were heartbreaking.
I love other characters like Dutchy, Kate, RO, Swain and Charge. And I loved Bomber and Spider but Nav and ET will always be my favorites.

Never really liked Buffer all that much and I am loving Dutchy a lot more.

Buffer.

I am (or we in Germany) are halfway through Series 3, and both Buffer and Bomber have become well-rounded characters by now. I could actually believe that someone like Buffer works on a real Navy ship. Some brilliant scenes from S1 with Spider (first giving him a bollocking and then "Don't call me Sir, I work for a living!", bwahaha!) and Bomber in the beginning of S2 (the snake episode, I thought he would actually go after her and have her removed from the ship). You really don't want him to be angry about stuff you've done wrong... --but he'll be swift, open and fair in dealing with it. Well, mostly (see the tattoo affair and the washing machine, which I thought was slightly out of character). OTOH, he will admit when he has reached his limits and will accept help, advice, from others.
