WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CAT? This has been bugging me all day. I mean the woman comes home from a date to find her cat cut up in the fridge. They never mention it again until her "friend" says "I see you got a new cat" So the only things I can figure is either A. they were going a different way with the film to begin with. or B. The ex-fiance did it for being wrongfully accused of the crime.

I think there was a lapse in time after the sentance was read and the awkward conversation at the end.
I also wondered about the cat, that interested me more than anything else. Everytime she spoke with her son or the ex boyfriend I kept waiting for a reference to the cat. I assumed the ex did it, but question was why since it turned out he wasn't the killer.
