Why did they buy her the 235 dollar jeans at the end?

That is really up for the audience member to decide, but I'll give you my take on it. Andra's death gave them a feeling about family, and how you should appreciate your loved ones while they're around, and you're supposed to not limit that love to special occasions, but yet all the time. It's bad that I associate love with money, but I'm sure the fact that her parents bought her these expensive jeans gave her a feeling of being loved. Does that make any sense to you?

make me good, god. but not yet.

Well for one, the daughter felt that the mom was more interested in helping the homeless than her own family - and there was probably some truth to it. The daughter was pretty insistent that mom never ever gave her a 20, but was willing to hand it to some homeless stranger.

Secondly, flash back to the scene where they were trying on jeans. Mom would say the all looked nice and nothing was ever good enough for the daughter. Dad was no where to be seen at all. It felt very hurried to me - something that I do when I go shopping with my wife...

There was personal growth on all three parties in that scene. 1) Abby was finally feeling good enough about herself to like a pair of jeans. 2) Kate was dropping the money on her Abby. 3) Aex was also there shopping with his daughter.

The scene feels like a bit of a manufactured tie in deliberately planted by the author there to illustrate the character development she was looking to show, but I think she pulled it off pretty subtly nonetheless.
