Was Mary terrible at her job?

Sorry to have to ask this but was Mary just a terrible skin consultant?
I am referring to what she did to Abby. did she give her a bad treatment or did Abby just have really bad skin and there was no other way?
Sorry but that point bugged me and I was leaning toward the former.
Thanks.

No, she wasn't terrible, in fact she was quite good. Didn't you notice how much better Abby's skin looked when she was trying on her jeans in the last scene? The blemish on her nose was completely gone, as was the redness she had before the facial.

OK I feel better. I at first thought that she had tortured the girl but I guess she had to do it in order to get her acne under control.

I've never had a peel (haven't needed to, thankfully) but I have heard that people do tend to get very very red afterwards (temporarily). If I recall, Mary also told Abbie that her face would "look like hell" right after the enzymatic peel but it would be worth it in the long run.

The redness in the face after a chemical peel is completely normal. I've seen far worse results (before completely healing) on women with way better than Abby.

No. I think Abby's reaction is more due to her trying to grow up too fast or something and realizing some of the perils of that, and her dad's reaction is down to him not wanting her to go back there.

It is easy to form that conclusion since Alex (the father) had just dumped Mary. She may have felt slighted. I thought she was not gentle enough and you never see her steam, she just jumps in to the extractions. No ones skin should look like they have been beat up after a facial. A peel does not create bumps, just redness. Her skin appeared clearly swollen.
