What kind of character is Griffith playing?

I haven't seen this show but when I heard Melanie Griffith was cast in it, looking like she does now, I had to wonder.

Is her character supposed to be an older woman fighting age with too much plastic surgery? Or are they actually trying to pass her off as a serious character?

Part of the reason she is used is for her singing. But yeah, she was used as sort of a serious actor. At least as serious as you can be while delivvering some funny lines.

I'm just wondering how they get past the obvious surgically enhanced appearance.

I would have thought MG would never be able to work again in front of the camera after doing all that.

She plays the pampered wife of a wealthy older man, and seems to consider herself sex-on-a-stick. So I'd say plastic surgery would not be out-of-character for the (stereo)type of character she plays. But I wouldn't say it was implied that her character has definitely had PS.

From what I remember, she looked suprisingly unscary on the show. But that could be because 1) my TV isn't that great, and 2) the show wasn't holding my attention very well. Or, it could be they have some hella good makeup artists/filters/FX.

Turns out to be one heckuva bomb of a show, too!

I guess that's all Griffith could get, these days, with all her surgery.

How sad. She once was almost great.
