Yet another new US show with a British lead actor?
Do these guys get paid less or something? Journeyman, Life, Bionic Woman... all have British leads (with *beep* American accents), and now this one is the same deal.
What is this all about?

I don't know about pay scale, but I suspect that since British actors/actresses don't seem to be the raving egomaniacs that American celebs are, I can see why they don't have a lot of trouble getting work over here. I'd rather hear a Brit screwing up an American accent than the other way around any day.
Personally, I'd like to see more American shows done with British writers - might do U.S. tv a world of good.
British series: 6 eps, 2 or 3 seasons avg.
American series: 22 eps, 4-5 seasons for syndication
So IF a show is a hit, there's a lot more stability in American series (current situations notwithstanding). Some people are happy with just a steady paycheck.

Look behind you! A THREE-headed monkey!!!!!!
That doesn't really explain the "british invasion" of actors being hired, however.
shareI think it does; generally, British actors view acting as a job, as versus the whole "star trip." They may have less ego and be less demanding?? Just a guess.
shareI dunno, that's one enormous generalization. It's just like saying all Brits have bad teeth and all Yanks are dumb. America is just a country that gets moreso misrepresented by it's actors than England. I think the amount of English actors is a good thing. Maybe it'll provide the U.S. and U.K. with a more symbiotic relationship tv-wise or something.

I may be dumb, but at least I ain't a cripple. Oh...damn.
You never see a reverse of this.
I am gradually getting annoyed with imported leads also.
Irish Americans being played by a New Zealand actor? Come on!
And the generalization that Americans who want to be actors are some how worse or just in it for money, is just stupid.
I say it does have to do with how cheap it is to get someone from overseas.
Same with how it is cheaper to shoot in Canada, and pretend it's Texas.
I don't know for certain about every British actor, but it seems like the ones I've seen have better acting ability. I think in Britain, tv actors are held to a much higher standard than american tv actors. Probably because most UK dramas have much shorter series (forcing them to be more similar to a movie than an american tv show) and IMO higher level of quality all around
