Dude can google map the party (and print it out), but he still has a VCR and rents VHS tapes? I realize this was 2007, but I'm pretty sure VHS rentals have been obsolete longer than that. I live in a major American city and the last Blockbuster here closed in 2010 or so.....

He has a very small apartment and makes just enough to get by. Im pretty sure hes fine watching TV on an old tube TV and watching video rentals.

Honestly, shut up. That has nothing to do with the movie at all; not the plot, not the quality of the writing, it really has nothing to do with anything. There are PLENTY of people who still use standard def & vhs even today in 2014. In 2006 when they shot this, it was even more common.
If you disliked the movie that's fine of course, but don't blame it on something as trivial as your own opinion on how common old electronics are. Or if you liked the movie, then what's the point of this thread?

shareThe last VHS tapes came out in 2005 which was A History of Violence. But This movie came out in 2007 but was shot in 2006 or even 2005 depending on how long it took them to shoot then edit it.
But VHS tapes could still be rented depending on the location and demand even though it was phased out.( during that time( There's still a market for tapes. I still use VCR to this day for certain movies that never made it to DVD. They didn't stop making beta tapes until a few months ago and VHS might still be in production but on a smaller scale.
