A couple of quotes from The Dime:

The actors, James DuMont (Ocean's 13, War of the Worlds +20 more films) & Michelle Tomlinson (Indelible) BOTH won awards for Best Actor...

The acting was one of the strongest elements of this film.

For the sake of openness I think it should be made clear that 'The Dime' has, in other threads, identified himself to be none other than the above mentioned actor James Dumont:

http://uk.imdb.com/name/nm0003069/board/flat/93377586?d=95361985&p =1#95361985

In threads I've seen other than the one linked above he merely refers to himself in the third person and commends himself for his acting skills. He plays Herman in The Cellar Door, and also serves as co-producer on the movie.

Another quote:

You have 8 Online reviews to choose from to prove your opinion is null & void.

It would be interesting to know how many print or industry reviews The Cellar Door has received, and what level of praise it has received from them. Whilst it's understandable that a co-producer would feel the need to promote proof of the quality of his work, citing a handful of internet reviews seems something of a drop in the ocean.

Also, whilst it's understandable that a producer would wish to defend himself and his colleagues against any casual jibe or dismissal, from a commercial point of view it doesn't seem a terribly wise move to try and take on all comers individually on a public and highly popular internet forum. No doubt the man works hard and tries to take pride in his work, but talk about fostering ill will...

And finally:

Opinions are like A-holes everyone has one and can BE ONE!

Online movie reviews are like bad movies: anybody could make one.

Maybe we don't want to wish a terrible film on other people?

Wow. People aren't allowed to venture an opinion on an acting performance unless they've studied Stanislavski? lol.
I've not seen your film, so I won't comment on it. However, I have read these boards, and I can offer some friendly advice. Your confrontational attitude on these threads is doing much more harm than good, and is merely serving to magnify the negative postings. You really need to chill out.
Best of luck with the movie.

After being directed to read this thread for the humor value, I went and found this film, and gave it a whirl. Wow. Atrocious. Absolutely terrible. I'm not sure quite how else to describe it. The acting was overdone without any charming redeeming qualities that might set an otherwise terrible film apart. Generally silly.

At least this thread has succeeded in getting one person to watch the film - hopefully no one actually pays for this when ( if? we can only hope ) it gets released.

I hate to say it, but for the most part, I didn't find it terrible, and frankly, I expected it to suck.

The two leads weren't bad. James DuMont did a plausible job of being a weird, awkward little man. In his interactions with Tomlinson in particular, he was good, apart from the first couple of times he became angry at her. His shouting wasn't convincing.

Michelle Tomlinson was pretty good, too. She did came across as exactly what she was...a terrified woman locked in a box. She was convincing. The greatest flaw, in regard to her, was that her verison of "angry with a thrist for revenge," came across as "putting on her hottest, I'm coming to *beep* YOU BLIND," face. She's an insanely hot woman, so that's easy for her to convey, but I'd be more prone to blame the director for not pulling anger out of her instead of sultry.

The ending was terrible, and got terribler the longer it went on, but the lead actors were ok. All the supporting characters were awful, I'd assume they were hired from the grocery store Herman partonized.
