This movie sucked + is a ripoff - see ALTERED instead...

This movie was pathetic. The twist is so obvious, if you can't figure it out by the end then I fail to see how you can function in the real world.

This is a suspense film with no suspense, a thriller than offers no thrills, a horror movie that isn't scary.

The premise is nice; a cult spouting end of times propaganda. Only, this movie would have been better if it wasn't A COMPLETE RIPOFF OF THE MOVIE called "The Rapture." (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102757/).

How is it a ripoff? Well, in that movie, Mimi Rogers warns people that the end of days isn't really approaching. Turns out she was right. Then as a twist, the "rapture" does occur - it really is the end of the world after all. This movie plays out exactly the same, instead of christian propaganda, it's about a cult of evil scientist/mathematicians who later turns out to be true. Same story.

AVOID. Altered is a far superior piece of work, and please don't blame the budget; the story sucks no matter how much money he had at his disposal. Budgets don't fix script problems.

Think of the hundreds of thousands of films made - nearly every one somebody could say rips off something else.

yeah . . . willowfield is right. the film I wrote called "Being Benny Hill" everyone says is a ripoff of "Being John Malkovich"

however, I would like to point out that in my movie the protaganist enters the mind of Benny Hill and not John Malkovich . . . big time difference.

I wish there was some sort of points system on this board to rate users cos your sir would get negative 100.

Do people only come online to bitch about movies rather than talk about how good or interesting they are.

But at least there is none of the same old annoying line of

I remember this film when it was clockwork Orange
I Remember this film when it was Doctor Who
Blah, Blah, Blah, get a life.

Some films are really bad, this aint one of em.

The fact that this film had no suspense or thrills for you. I guess that means you wouldn't be scared if you were kidnapped by a group of people, didn't know what they were doing or what they wanted from you. You wouldn't be afraid if they shot you with a gun, or if they tortured you to convince you to go along with their beliefs. I doubt that, but if you want to keep acting like Mr. Macho not afraid of anything, go ahead.

The Rapture is a film that is used to convince people to join the Christian Religion, like the Left Behind series. There was a point made in the film that there was little difference between what the Christian paramedic belived, and this group believed. The idea being that most of Christian religion is cult-like.

The ending I think is a version of the ending of Left Behind. The idea being, this is the kind of brainwashing groups like the cult in the film use. Perhaps also that being religious, makes you more likely to fallow in a group that is a cult. It's most likely why this film wasn't brought into theaters, knowing there would be a bunch of religious fanatics protesting it saying it's anti-God and anti-religious. We have the first amendment, people should be able to create films like Believers to show the reality behind mindlessly fallowing a fear of the end of times. Be it Christianity, or someone else.

Budgets don't fix script problems. It does if you hire writers. Too many people use credit to buy things they don't want, to impress people they don't like.
