Don't Understand the End SPOILERS

what the heck? i thought everything was moving towards a happy ending, and then the imprisoned boy yelled at him, and then She yelled at him, and then he left w/ his suitcase. WHAT??? Was he going to the cabin? Was he waiting for her there and she knew that? What happened w/ the boy ringing the doorbell?

This ending was totally crazy/unresolved on all fronts. Did the govt. step in and edit it? Thnx for any help.

The man in the prison is the daughters fiancée Reza. Reza heard from his friend ( who loves the same girl named Touka)that his fiancée is serving food and hanging out with Aziz, so he yelled at him. meanwhile the lawyer calls and leaves a message with the mother ( Atieh) that the papers are ready. She thinks the papers are for removing them from the house but the papers were to get Reza out of jail. So with this misunderstanding, she yells at him.

In the end, Aziz is seen leaving. Reza is out of prison and ringing the doorbell of his fiancées home and the Atieh is seen looking for her ex lover.

I do appreciate it

p.s. that's too sad! you mean that the woman/talented cook doesn't end up with the man who owned the house? what is the point of her 'just looking for him'?
I had thought it was Aziz who was going to that house in the end, but I'm wrong? freebalance, did you find this ending satisfactory? thank you again.

Lot of Iranian movies are open ended because of their conservative values. Given the time period the movie is set in, it would have been controversial for Atieh , whose status is unknown (married or widow) to be together with another man.

Many Iranian directors tackle this dilemma by leaving the ending open for interpretation.

I guess one get used to it after watching many such movies....the frustration of not knowing:-)
