I've seen on the board a lot of people like Monster but personally I couldn't get into it, I'm only 1 episode into Death Note but it's much more engrossing than I found Monster to be

Code Geass is pretty much Death Note, but replace the police and criminals with an oppressive military organization, replace the book with the ability to control others, and add mecha.
