Yagami= 'I'm a gay'

I wonder, is this intentional? Light does seem disinterested in most of the women that are attracted to him, using them only as puppets. I don't know if that's because he's a sociopath or whether the backwards Yagami thing means anything. In anime, names usually do mean something. Just found this interesting.

I thought he and L might be attracted to each other.

Maybe he's only attracted to people that can match his intelligence.

My god, yeah, Yagami does read 'I'm a gay' backwards! lol Hadn't spotted that before, but as the writer of the manga is Japanese (and I assume he's not fluent in English?!), so I doubt it was intentional. Must have been a pure coincidence. Having said that, there're definitely some gay undertones throughout (L and Light being chained together for a few months for starters, come on! lol), so who knows...

I already posted this on the other thread, but now this one has become the more active one so i'll repost my answer here:

"Yagami" is a real Japanese family name.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yagami

Light's last name is spelled with a different kanji character, "Ya" is represented with the character for "night" as opposed to the character for "eight" as the real "Yagami" name is. "Gami" is represented by the "god" character (the Japanese word for "god" is "kami", and also the "god" character is the one used in the real-life "Yagami" name). So Light's last name is technically "Night God", a suitable name for Kira.

The people, and the people alone, are the motive force in the making of history.
