A Note to Filmmakers Everywhere

If you're trying to make a convincing mockumentary, you CAN'T have a script. Simple as that. What made films like This is Spinal Tap and The Blair Witch Project so successful was the fact that their actors weren't following any lines. The directors instead gave their actors a rough idea of what they wanted to see, and the actors delivered.

The dialogue in this film is so unnatural -- particular in Diary 2 -- that it completely pulled me out of the film. In fact, I'm watching it as I type this, and I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. The actors are so wooden, it might as well be an amateur radio production, since they're so keen on describing everything they see anyway.
