Biggest racist crap ever

This movie is the biggest racist movie i have ever seen and it really pissed me off. I dont get it how it can be ok being racist like that towards the Swedish people, but when it's the other way around all hell would have broken loose? This movie wouldnt even been shown in the theatres if it was the other way around. I still watched the movie from the beggining to the end becuse i thought i might have had a twist at the end where the boy understands that you cant live your life as a racist, but instead the last line in the whole movie is "But never will i talk like a Swedi looser"

The acting was pretty good if you ask me, the guy playing Halim did a ok job, and his father was verry convincing and is a great actor.

But overall this movie sucked, and certanly the message, dont waste your money on the racist brainwashing piece of crap!

I sadly must say that i agree with you m8.

I don't really care about the racist undertones in this film, it is from the kids perspective and I can understand them. Everyone tries to understand the world with their means and ability. I can also understand that some people become upset about it.

The main thing that pissed me off about this movie is that it sucked bigtime.
Lousy actors, lousy director and that it all in all looked like "veckans brevfilm" from Bullen.

Why can't some watchable films emerge from Sweden?

reply

And i must sadly say that your english is by far the worst english i've ever seen, mate..or should i say kompis..filmen är inget mästerverk..den är ok..men hur i helvete kan du säga att den promotar invandrarrasism?

Den promotar ju det, ditt jävla offer.

reply

Sure, my English might not be topnotch, but im still able to get my message thru, and you can clearly understand me good enough to see my point.

And how can you possibly say that this movie does NOT promote racism? Have you even seen the movie?

And where in my post did i say something about my ethnicity my English skills should be far superior to somebody elses? Huh? Nowhere? You just made that up yourself? You automatically think that i will attack somebodys English skill becuse im Swedish? Sounds abit racist to me.

Just imagine this scenario, that the movie had been the other way around and the final line in the movie would be "I can really speak with an suburban accent if i want to, and find it really *beep* westside 2pac 4 life cool, but never will i speak like a *beep* blatte" How would that make you feel?

reply

Your language skills isnt that impressive either. First of all, its better "than yours", not "then yours". Secondly, the correct qoutation for your intended meaning of "skriv om din så "kallade" recension" is "skriv om din så kallade "recension".

Pleast dont start a discussion about language when you havent mastered it yourself. And yes, im sure you can find some faults in my english too.

It's also the only movie where I've seen cartridges used for a muzzle loaded gun....that's pretty weak.. =)

"Insanity runs in my family... It practically gallops."

reply

The movie is a big piece of *beep* If I happen to meet a racist kid like that I'd beat the *beep* out of him for being so stupid.
The father is the only one who seems to appreciate being in Sweden.

reply

Movie was ok, didn't quite live up to my expectations. Sure, he had rascist opinions about the swedish people. Furthermore in the movie from Halim's point of view the swedish people were a bunch of stupid ****. But this was all just a joke, surely no one would take Halim in the movie seriously? I mean someone must really have a low intelligence for him/her to take this entire "Sweden and Swedish people are dumb" thing serious. I surely didn't, i just laughed. From what i have seen in the movie it doesn't promote rascism, it just makes jokes about it if you understand what i mean.

reply

Why should Swedes laugh and just take it with a smile when immigrants wouldnt be able to do the same thing in the exact same situation?

Varför ska svenskar bara skratta åt det och ta det med ett leénde på läpparna när invadrare inte skulle kunna gjort det samma i en likadan situation?

reply

Hey its a comedy for christ's sake not an movie about rascism it's fine if you didn't like it but just because you didn't like it doesn't mean that it promotes rascism.

reply

Well, im not sure if were even discussing the same movie then.

reply

Whatever everyone are entitled to their own opinions but making a statement that is clearly false is another thing. Then again some people really are unable to take jokes.

reply

Everyone should be able to laugh at themselves. But when you're an immigrant, you're also part a minority and that's a whole other deal. If you were to move to another country where there are only a handful swedes living, you'd find it hard to laugh if the natives made fun of you all the time. Think about it...

reply

Agreed Shadoph. Kungzimpa i'm sure you would understand it if you saw it the way me and shadoph do.

reply

This is so stupid. Only rascist people would even think of complaining about this...

The book upon which this movie is based contains exerpts from Halim's diary. The official cover is exactly the same as his diary in the film. The book (and thus the diary entries) was deliberately written in "gutterspeech" because of Halim's influences and points of view. I think the movie reflects the same thing - it's painted, masked - so what we see is Sweden through the eyes of the main character.

It's easy to pin racism to this movie, or call it propaganda, but that's not really fair to the story and the characters. After all those are what movies are about first hand, they can't all be assumed to don social or political agendas.

reply

Jeez, people here should stop being so damn paranoid! So what if the main character has racist thoughts, it's just a movie. Do you hate American History X for the same reason?
And I do not think that that last line was very serious, I think Halim was being sarcastic.

By the way, I've met the director for this movie, and he doesn't seem very racist at all.

I'm very ape, and very nice.

reply

My main problem with the movie is that it is not funny and lacks everything that would make the movie even remotely close to good or worth seeing.

Nothing racist about this movie and you must be kind of stupid to imply that and not see what the movie tries to tell you. The movie is about his mother who stands for everything old and his ancenstry. His father stands for Sweden and everything that is new. Halim struggles in the middle and don't know what to choose and can't see how he can combinate theese two. Something many immigrated people, mostly children and teenagers struggles with. At the end he have succeeded.

But it's also a satire over people like Halim, you get it better in the book.

Do you see it clearer now and that it's nothing racist about it at all?

reply

Sorry, but you got it all wrong, kungzimpa. The movie is not racism towards Swedes (per definition). It's a movie which shows that xenophobic and racist feelings ALSO exists among immigrants as well as among light-skinned Swedes. Racism is bad regardless how and towards who it is expressed. It is something evil which grows when a group of people who look alike is quite enough many for backbiting. Backbiting is something evil which becomes dangerous when it exceed in deeds.

We need more of these movies which tell us various aspects of the truth. The true story can be better told than in this movie, but it's still something good to tell it. /S61
