in last weeks challenge team Evo totaled their car. Even if they won the challenge what would be the point? How could they continue with a destroyed car?

They couldn't go on. I believe this happend in Season 1 when the Mustang broke down. It got towed, however, but they lost a lot of time, which subsequently made them lose. I also believe there was another car from Season 1 that had a radiator issue that caused them to not be able to go on and didn't the Lambo quit near the end of Season 1, because he didn't what to mess his car up anymore?
I haven't watched Season 1 since it aired, so I'm not sure about what I said, but to answer the question...If the EVO wouldn't have lost, they would have been out by default and I'm not sure what would have happened to the actual loser of the challenge (2 cars out maybe??). Dart almost lost in that episode by default also!
A much more disturbing question is what if Team VW had been in that challenge and hit one of those things? They'd have been screwed!
